@@hectorg188 That's really interesting. From what I had heard from others about the book so far, I had not expected it to be a book ppl either cried over or were just annoyed/bored by. Born and bred Seattle girl here! My two fave bookstores are Elliot Bay Books in Capitol Hill (super accessible via our light rail) and Charlie’s Queer Books in Fremont. If you’re planning to visit the Seattle bridge troll Charlie’s is just down the street. If you want a used bookstore Twice Sold Tales is super cute and has a bunch of cats that hang out in the store. If you’re down to venture outside the city a bit another fave of mine is Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park (they do have two locations in the city that are also nice but they’re smaller). I would def come to a meet up! If you want good outside places I’d highly recommend Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill (except if you’re coming 7/19-7/21 bc they’re doing a big festival there). Or if you want an option on the water Gas Works Park is really great and only like a 30min walk from a light rail station.

For Seattle bookstores, 1000% agree with everyone saying Twice Sold Tales (the cats!!! the stacks of used books!!!) and the Elliott Bay Book Company. They're pretty close to each other and Capitol Hill is a great place to check out. Side note since it's summer: There's also a bunch of good local ice cream places in the area, too (I'm a Molly Moon's girl personally, which is on the same block as Elliott Bay Books).

what i loved about the will of the many was how there was finally a clever protagonist. someone who takes all things into consideration and when smth is too dangerous, instead of being like "i'm the main character, nothing's gonna happen to me so i'm just gonna go do this thing and succeed," he just leaves because it's not worth the risk and comes back better prepared. i was also pleasantly surprised by how certain characters were portrayed (A BIT OF A SPOILER) - like veridius who is described as the principal at the academy and so you probably imagine him as this middle-aged/old dude who holds lots of power and will be a nuisance (at least i did) but instead you get this young charismatic guy who gets on well with the students and has you questioning whether he's actually as bad as you were told. also the setting being inspired by ancient rome is just a great bonus to it all. ofc i get that some people just didn't like it but it always hurts a little to hear it xD

hi! this is kind of a general PSA but if by painful you mean your eyes are sore/light sensitive after dilation that’s totally normal but if any of y’all EVER feel sharp/pressure like pain, nausea, darkness of vision after being dilated tell your provider immediately you could be going into angle closure and that is probably the fastest way to lose your sight permanently

I am shocked that two of my DNFs made God Tier for you!! Red White & Royal Blue and Love Hypothesis - RW&RB I just could not get past the flimsy backstory for their 'enemies to lovers' conflict. I prefer when that trope has more meat to it and the characters have a decent conflict to overcome. I could envision theirs being an easy hurtle to jump which just made me lose interest pretty quickly. Love Hypothesis just didn't make sense for me - I wasn't invested in the romance, it didn't feel genuine. Any stans of these, please, I'd be interested to hear your pitches on why I should give them another shot since I know people love these stories so much!

@@kpopaddictedlol ofc! my memory is a bit hazy about the series, but I know that it’s about dragon shifters who ran away from their homeland and there is dragon hunters. And he’s like a forbidden love type of series. If you read it, please give me an update ! I want to know ur opinion

The sequel to It Happened One Summer has no business being as good as it is. It made me feel too much. The smut is still there it’s still usually weird but isn’t not completely jarring. I regret nothing.

I love you for the “the love hypothesis” ranking my book taste is really eclectic 😂 but have always felt ashamed of my silly little romance books (and lately I’ve been SHAMELESS about it and having so much fuuuuun)🎉

The second book in the Serpent and the Wings of Night duology was the biggest disappointment, I DNF’d and was so bummed bc the first one was decent enough!!!

The Love Hypothesis was also my first ever romcom and i imediately bought Love on the Brain after being publisbed. I like Ali Hazlewood cause her books pull you into the story so fast, without her i wouldn't even have tried other romance books and for that i'm, as you said, forever grateful

Im so angry about Fourth Wing because i bought it at the "sweet spot" you mentioned and then everyone was like "hey actually this sucked" and it was too late to get my $15 back

SO happy with the cruel prince rating 🥰 It’s my comfort series and I always miss it. Still havent found anything similar that isn’t full on smut or odd writing styles

I agree with you about the sex scenes in "It Happened One Summer." They didn't fit with the book and took me out of it.

eeeee, so excited you're coming to seattle! hope you enjoy your trip here 🫶 for seattle bookstore recs, my top faves would be elliott bay book company (capitol hill) and mam's books (international district)! +1 all the twice sold tales love and some additional recs i've seen recently (but haven't checked out yet) are charlie's queer books (fremont), secret garden books (ballard), and third place books (ravenna & lake forest park). i'm a fairly new transplant so not 100% sure on what the best meetup spots would be BUT would be v interested in one 🤗 it could be cute to do a group picnic at green lake or gas works park? only if you have the time/capacity for it tho!

Welp, that art for One Dark Window has sold me too. To the TBR pile it goes. XP It's funny, I'll actually be in Washington in July, but not in Seattle itself. Too bad, it would've been cool to see you IRL~ Hope you have a good trip!

Seattle adjacent person but. Twice Sold Tales is excellent. (Also deep sea Salt and Sugar it's a cake shop) The historical district of Sumner has A Good Book (which locked me in once) and there is a British style tea house called the Secret Garden nearby plus a quinicental American burger joint with excellent shakes called Dairy Freeze. And it's just a fun area.
