Maaaaan! I went natural in 2011! My hair wasn’t growing! It kept getting them balls on the ends and they would just shed every where! I was miserable! It was NOT glamorous or enlightening!!!! My depression got worse and I was just losing myself. I kept at it and I wanted so badly to be able to maintain my hair in its natural state. I finally gave in 2 wks ago after nearly having a nervous breakdown and I bought a Just 4 Me. I didn’t want to damage my hair since it’s been so long and I couldn’t go to the salon. It came out surprisingly beautiful and I just feel so much better!!! One thing that being natural has taught me, is each individual person, is there own kind of beautiful and being natural isn’t for everyone. I will no longer allow people to make me feel bad for embracing what makes me feel better about MYSELF!

When you are going through difficult times in your life, don't isolate yourself. There are people who have been through what you might be facing right now and they overcame it. Don't push people away, surround yourself with people who are spiritually mature and get the help that you need. Isolation when you are in pain and don't know if there's a way out is dangerous and that's why we have suicide cases. Listen, there's nothing that you can be facing that God is not able to solve for with God nothing is impossible. Hold on. Jesus loves you.

I really loved getting relaxers. It was literally the only thing that grew my hair out. I know it sounds crazy but I’m so serious. I’ve been natural for about 8 months now and my hair isn’t getting NO WHERE. so I put braids in it and told myself if I don’t get any growth I’m just going to go back to my usual method of relaxing my hair and getting it to grow. And plus the thick hair is just toooo much to deal with its driving me CRAZYYYY

Sounds like during your 8 month journey you were having length retention issues, wether it be lack of trims, in-adequate moisture or mishandling of the hair, diet, etc. Relaxers are fine but even with one proper hair care is still needed. Hopefully you visit your stylist for maintenance.

I should have kept it hot oil treated, trimmed my ends, and conditioned it for weeks at a time; and pressed the new growth as it was coming in, then touched it up and used all the products that helps the hair grow. In the past, I would do my own relaxer only when my hair was short. But for the last 5-6 years, I think I went to a stylist maybe 3-4 times, and not at all for the last 3. It’s simple. And yes, if you have long hair (mine is mid back) twisting it first makes it easier. Ironically, I tried it before I saw Hairlicious’ video. It’s much faster. Also, getting a relaxer where you don’t have to mix the products is easier. Even when I do a touch up, I need more than a tub. My hair grows fast. And it’s thicker in consistency, so I find it easier to apply. And get your towel, shampoo, etc. all that stuff ready ahead of time. 😉 You can do it. As I live in Western Canada, we don’t have lots of Black hair salons, so prices, even for relaxers, are quite pricey in most places. I can do it for $10 at home! And as I have to do it often, going to the salon all the time isn’t an option. If your hair is long, you can ask someone to help you out as sometimes it’s hard in the back, especially the first few times as you’re not used to do it and not as fast. Good luck.

Looking good T! You know what, I have been wanting to go back to creamy crack. I have not had a perm since 2016 and I really do love my curls but natural hair is so hard to take care of especially when you have kinky curls like me. Hey T! A good way to see the back of your head instead using 2 mirrors. Use a smart tv, prop your phone/iPad on a ring light/trip pod, then turn on screen mirroring. You’ll be able to zoom in and out and at your convince. If you want to use your filming camera for KZbin then just do the same procedure using an HDMI CORD instead of screen mirroring.

my mom put a texturizer/relaxer in my hair when I was younger definitely don’t miss the smell or the lil burn sensation. We used the pink box with the little girls on it i forgot what the brand is called but It changed my texture a bit and now ive gone fully natural with no heat for the last 3 almost 4 years. You make it look so easy and beautiful, great job with the relaxer mama❤️

“I’m just gonna cut it” Went natural in 2012, but this is literally me every few months when I go to trim my hair. I’ve had 3 big chops and every time I “trim” my hair I just decide to take a bunch off lol. I actually have a Deva cut appointment in November to get a short cut. I just can’t help it. My mon always freaks out because she’s like “ALL YOUR HAIR IS GONE” but I love changing my hair and it’ll grow back!

I applaud you for even trying to go natural! I personally get overwhelmed with all the time ppl seem to spend on their hair; I don’t have that kind of time. Especially I work in tv & film…lately daily, sometimes 16-hour days, so no thank you. I relax and color my 4C hair and it’s mid-back. Love me some white crack!

Have you heard about relaxers causing breast cancer in research? It’s very interesting how blank women have higher rates and I wonder if it’s due to bioaccumulation of toxic hair products that have been marketed to us
@strawberrie64913 жыл бұрын
girl i'm scared...
@carloshasabighead3 жыл бұрын
Don’t listen to them people. Black women are getting cancer because of our diets, not eating high potassium foods specifically, drinking alcohol and smoking weed and cigarettes like everyone else. Really? Getting breast cancer from exposing exposing yourself to something that sits on your hair for 10 mins every few months?! That’s just their way of preventing us from adapting and looking better than them in their natural hair texture and at the same time looking good in our own natural hair…it’s intimidating
@Khapresha3 жыл бұрын
@@carloshasabighead I doubt the research is an intimidation thing, no matter if it’s 10 minutes or not it’s really bad toxins/chemicals that seep into your body through skin and hair follicles. It literally can burn you hence why its so toxic
