It's also why we paint our military vehicles, bases, and uniforms camoflauge. Not only does it make it harder to focus on and figure out where the target's edges are but it also makes it harder to immediately pick out. I don't know how much it is true for animals but humans have an extremely strong sense of pattern recognition and if the shape is broken up due to camoflauge we might skip over it initially or not register immediately, we might not recognize what is there and that gives some precious few seconds to respond in turn. It's not expected to completely hide the vehicles just make it harder to immediately recognize. There's plenty of vehicles the clearly are just too large to realistically hide but by putting camo on it can give that extra time, it might have a giant missile rack sticking out of it but breaking up the shape and hiding the rest can really throw you off and give it the time despite that there's a giant silo sticking out of a bush. There's also the case of camo where an entire airfield used by the military was painted to look like a town so when flying over it would confuse pilots appearing as a suburb using illusions even though at closer inspection it would be obvious it was just painted on.
@1998marijn19986 жыл бұрын
Jauke Weterings A pattern could also make it difficult to guess which side of an animal is the front and which exact direction they're moving in, so predators have a harder time to react to their prey's first movements.

There are animals with fake eyes that fool predators into attacking their tails instead of their heads. Also, that's *exactly* what "dazzle camo" in WW1 was intended to do.

@@1998marijn1998 I once lived by and ate from the ocean. There are some really stealthy things there like stone crabs, stealthy around stones, and oh boy was it fun when it nearly pinched my finger off (no exaggeration, I saw bone). I got revenge by eating crab claws after I set up traps. The body isn't that good, and has bleh parts, but you can just take the claws and toss them back in. They grow back. I've even caught 1 again, as I noticed it had the exact same damage to it's body. Neat thing is they hide and eat plankton and other things to regrow claws. Now if we humans had that ability, it'd be great. I'd detach my bad leg and have it grow back.

Stripes don't really work if they are substantially larger than the shadows they are suppose to mimic. Instead it's best to make it as least eye catching as possible. I believe I should mention that Humans actually have a pretty powerful pair of Anti-Stealth Abilities: [Pattern Recognition Pro] in combination with having [Trichromatic Eyes]. They're so good at finding patterns that it can be quite hard to hide from them if they know what they're looking for when searching for you. And you have to actually match the color of your surroundings in both the Yellow-Blue and Red-Green color distinctions in order to properly hide from them, rather than just the Yellow-Blue distinction.
@LimeyLassen6 жыл бұрын

Not to mention some humans even have the rare ability to be born tetrachromatic, giving them an increased perception bonus even without learning any anti-stealth skills
@joshuahunt30326 жыл бұрын
And to think, the Trichromatic Eyes ability in primate builds might’ve started out as a means to determine when fruit are ripe so they didn’t poison themselves by accident. I think that even might’ve happened not long after some flowering plant builds evolved the Color-Coded Ripeness trait.

Most known for being used by the Zebra, but is also used by the Rhino, many fish and insects ....... Even if an enemy can see "you", they can't distinguish where you stop and a teammate starts. AND body part stealth. Having a tail that looks like a head is the most common example of this. It prevents the enemy player from scoring a critical hit. AND Pretending to be a different class. Moths that pretend to be spiders. Spiders that pretend to be bird shit. Caterpillars that pretend to be snakes. The mimic octopus pretending to be a whole range of things... AND Playing dead From insects that have the images of spiders on their wings, to goats that just go stiff at the first sign of danger. AND Plant 'stealth' Smelling like a corpse. Having flowers that look like an insect. Having leaves that look like they have bird poop on them. Even a plant designed to trick *Humans!* Weeds that look like rice plants so we don't pull them out of our rice fields.

But the one with the goats isnt natural or? As far as I know they got breeded so adrenaline makes them go stiff. Shepherds used this to protect their sheep. Simply mix your herd with only a few of these goats and wolfs will eat the one or 2 goats and leave the rest of the herd alone.
@shanerooney72886 жыл бұрын
@Plot Octavia. *Firstly,* even human breed animals (such as house cats and dogs) are shown on TierZoo. So if it was a trait specifically breed by humans (not sure if this is even true), it wouldn't disqualify the animal. *Secondly,* It isn't adrenaline that makes them go stiff. The choride channel in the muscle fibres to have a reduced conductance of chloride ions, this causes a delay in the relaxation of the muscles after the goat has made an involuntary movement. [Wiki: fainting goats] *Thirdly,* no sane shepherd will "protect" his herd by allowing the attacking wolf/coyote to get a free meal. It is _FAR_ more likely they introduce a Llama or Alpaca to the herd, because they are super aggressive and will protect the herd from the wolf.

Actually, you might be surprised to hear its a real upgrade that doesnt involve cheats. Its just absurdly hard to reach and then perfect to the same extent. It also involves a lot of mixing other high tier upgrades, such as "malleable skin", "multiappendage nervous system" and the extremely rare "light polarisation detection" sight ability, to name just a few. The fact that anyone at all managed it is a feat in itself... Though knowing that the account likely belongs to the marketing VP's daughter there's no doubt there were some string pullings involved to make it happen. The day another person pulls it off (no, chameleons dont count, I could go on a tangent explaining why but for your sake I wont) will surely be a hallmark in the game's history.
@jeffmatrachisia38276 жыл бұрын
- Lijosu - agreed. Even if they had to call in a few favors to get access to so many specific abilities, using them simultaneously at the level of effectiveness they do is impressive enough that they deserve their place in the meta. The fact remains that haven’t gotten more evolution points than other high tier builds, they just specced them into very specific abilities that aren’t nearly as high tier on their own. Anyone can throw together some high tier abilities and call it a day but it takes skill to know how to combine them into a winning strat. In other words, I agree that they definitely didn’t hack, it’s all skills that other builds can access if they’re willing to spend the time to spec into them. It just happens that no one did because they had to plan pretty far ahead (like millions of years)... which again, may have required pulling a few strings, but still resulted in a legal build.

As a pit viper main I also have quite the easy time, the rainforest biome is nice and easy with my camouflage when on the ground while I wait for whatever I recently bit to slowly die before tracking it down again via a tracking compound I have. Also not dying of heat is nice thanks to the cover the foilage provides. I will concede that silent flight seems extremely good, but unfortunately I have nowhere near enough evolution points to grab a form of flight on top of any sort of venom like I am used to, the unlocking of flight would require way too many evolution points to make a similar build to what I am used to. On the other side, I may attempt an aerial predator build in my next playthrough, do you have any recommendations on builds that are similar in approximate playstyle?
@xc8096 жыл бұрын
Owls need a nerf tbh.They completely destroy my rodent builds
@scrublordkoish23736 жыл бұрын
Owls are specialised around prey like small mammals, insects, other birds and sometimes fish, but if I remember correctly rodents are the main food source. Owls getting a nerf to their stealth ability for instance would make all of their hunting significantly harder, possibly pushing them to extinction unless human players keep them alive as pets or to put in their so called 'zoo' areas, potentially locking them there forever as humans seem to obsess over not letting any animal go extinct for some reason. (My personal theory is that they are trying to indoctrinate others into becoming their pets or as a new source of food.) Please do not let your personal grievances with your current build's natural predators cloud your judgement regarding their balance. Another thing I can recommend you is to play rodents in urban areas while avoiding forests as predators are less common, other biomes may be worth looking into as well, but those have their own resident hunters. Lastly there are larger rodent builds that might peak your interest, porcupines are currently the strongest among rodents with their high defence and decent health while if you want to be a smaller size rodent the chipmunk and squirrel will be just fine with their high mobility to evade attacks as long as you remain aware of your surroundings

Will you do a vid one day that showcases which animal has which stat set to “max” (Max HP, Max Stealth, etc.)?
@eugenio57744 жыл бұрын
well, for intelligence it has to be the humans, if only for the fact that they have maximised the teaching ability to such an extent that in many servers, players are required to attend guild wide education until at least lv16. this has allowed them to unlock the Dataminer prestige class, it's seriously ridiculous. dataminers study literally everything they can... for example, they know the physics engine enough that they have almost unlocked the Space server by brute force. their only drawback is that in-guild faction wars break out pretty constantly over resources and loot.
@oscheoroset12984 жыл бұрын
Aside for intelligence (which technically human cannot max it yet, as there are plenty of questions human still cannot answer, also with that famous quote from Einstein), there isn't anything that can achieve maximum stats. Stealth, if maxed, meaning that we cannot track it no matter how hard we try, but for now none have achieved that. Same as other stats. The only thing that can be maxed is health, with some kind of jellyfish and shrimp or clam can do that, but only in the most optimal environment, which is impossible in real life.
@kolliprii17594 жыл бұрын
@@oscheoroset1298 Max in anything would mean game over for anything else. Like max stealth would even pass the detection by touch making it literally non-physical. Max defense is just immovable object, max offense is just unstoppable force, max health immortality, max speed is just teleportation which can even mean duplicating. And max intelligence is yeah... I think what he means by max is highest.

Human on surface of sea in swarm of sharkies like tigers, great whites or even lemons gets out quickly if human knows what's good for him/her. 0:38 something to admire about owl mains is just how graceful they are even when catching a prey. other raptor builds would shift into a more aggressive playstyle in a hunting scenenario, sometimes involving some violent short fights, but owls just seem to grab their prey like it just happened to be on their way and then keep flying without giving it a second thought. it often feels more accurate to say they're distractedly picking up their food rather than actually hunting it
