From her losses from her youth in Nibelheim to the loss of many friends and her home in Sector 7, and even to the loss of a friend in Aerith, it’s very easy to see that Tifa has lost so much in her life. Cloud is honestly the only thing she has genuine affection for left, so much so that when she heard of the possibility of him being alive in Mideel, she rushing without a second thought, instantly believing it was Cloud, and she was right. But she wasn’t prepared for the world to give her the biggest reality check of all time. His Mako poisoning was far worse than any of the other robed men, to the point that he couldn’t even say words. Life has screwed these two over the hardest.

It’s why I love them as a couple, Cloud and Tifa. Forget the shipping wars and all that nonsense, people can still like Cloud with Aerith more, but Cloud and Tifa have been through lives being dragged through hell so many times, and they were often dragged through it together. Their shared traumas, through everything the world threw at them, they either had each other or the memory of each other when they weren’t near. And they came out of it stronger together. They deserve to have their happily ever after with each other.

​@@MetaGrave that's the whole lesson of this. While Aerith is my faborite character in rpgs I truly believe there is a lesson in here. To do what needs to be done and value what you have. For one Aerith was the greatest friend. For other purest love. Yet they need to let it go.

I think the relationship dynamics introduced in Rebirth will be in this game too and this part will have more than one version. One scene will be Tifa very upset and telling Cloud how she needs him, the other will show her actually heartbroken and pleading, maybe even telling Cloud how she loves him.

They all knew Sephiroth had some sort of control over Cloud at this point in the game. Barret sounded like a straight up ass, questioning if he should even want Cloud to get better. I really hope if they DO include this scene, they fix the script. Because we all know the new age Barret has a soft spot in his heart for Cloud, sick or psychotic.

Even after playing FFVII Rebirth, you are right. No thanks in part to Hojo for replacing Cloud's memory with mako poisoning and Jenova Cells (waiting to degrade), Sephiroth had the power to use Cloud by any means necessary.

They will definitely fix this. Cloud and Barrett’s relationship in the remakes is much deeper than it is in the og plus he deeply sympathises with the robed men. Id expect someone like Vincent to say that considering he’s quite apathetic and doesn’t know cloud that well

We know this is coming... in some way in part 3. They might go about it differently. He could end up like this, either in a wheelchair or in a bed, like Jessie's father, ...or worse still..... end up in a robe. But one thing is equally as certain. Tifa will be there to pull him out of it and return him to us.... the real Cloud. The one that's been sleeping since all the way back Nibelheim. The Cloud everyone got to know in the start of FF7 was the persona he subconsciously created to protect himself, because like Aerith is doing at the end of Part 2, Cloud also protected his mind from the reality of what transpired. Tifa helping to bring him back is what starts his slow road of acceptance. And he can reclaim who he really is and finally move forward as his true self.

Damn, if these lines don't really express how Tifa is completely in love with Cloud, then I don't know what would. She is essentially saying that Cloud is the singular most important person to her in her whole life. Pure love man!

This part reinforces the CloTi, because its Tifa who shares a true closer relationship with Cloud, as she is who know his true self. While that in the case of Aerith, despite to developed a notable good relationship with Cloud, she never managed to learn about Cloud himself like Tifa, as Aerith even commented that she wishes knows the true Cloud during their date in the Gold Saucer.

I think that's a point that a lot of people who ship Cloud with Aerith either don't understand or flat out forget. Aerith doesn't know Cloud she herself acknowledges that fact. It gets me poignant when you realize that the time she has spent with Cloud is a few weeks at best. Their "love story" wasn't even at the starting line yet. He's probably spent more time as a vegetable than he has with Aerith. His relationship was always just an ideal fantasy it's not based on reality because the reality is that they don't really know each other.

You don't get the context. Aerith for the first two acts was the love interest. Tifa had feelings for him but couldn't vome out. AFTER Aeriths death AND Clouds meltdown Tifa finds the courage be that only person for Cloud. This is the true start of them being a couple.

@wmen48 Aerith wasn't the love interest. The story goes out of its way to give you a choice, but it also goes out of its way to tell you that the persona that Cloud has at that point in the game is completely fake. Aerith even realizes it herself not that long before he death. And even then, all of her love scenes with Cloud are completely optional. The word you are looking for is misdirection. Fun fact, Square has never referred to Aerith as Cloud's love interest (they've actually called Tifa his love interest many times though) they've only stated that she loves him but it's never been stated to be mutual.

And this is why I like remakes expansions and slight changes (even if not all are better than OG) it makes it obvious and even changes Aerith to have a more fleshed out backstory to why shes so empathetic and even perceptive on her knowing Cloud isnt being genuine. Even though she had memories of the future in part 1 she still treats him very well even without future knowledge in Rebirth and its pretty obvious Cloud is attracted to how open she is, its never outright said he loves her but its basically spelled out if you know more or less how people act when they are romantically attracted to someone even to someone as dense as Cloud. I just find it ridiculous how much mental gymnastics some people take to absolutely discredit she was never the interest or even a possibility. Epecially the Tifa shippers even though yall already know Aerith wont suddenly come back from the dead and be with Cloud, besides even in the canon novel on the way to a smile Cloud refuses to respond to Tifa when she asks if he loves her and yet Clerith shippers almost never call Tifa just a platonic friend. Ya'll want to have your cake and eat it too.

@gatorssbm Cleerith shippers always call Tifa a platonic friend. In fact, a lot of Clerith shippers insist that Cloud and Tifa are not in a relationship. As for Cloud loving Aerith, it's never been stated. While it has been stated officially multiple times that he loves Tifa, even in the og game itself, the same is not true for Aerith as at most, the devs have stated that Aerith loved Cloud. Remember Cloud's mental state at the time that Aerith was in the party was messed up. In universe. The time that Aerith was with the party was just a few weeks at best. He didn't have the ability to love anyone at the time. By the time that Cloud had recovered, she was dead. As far as the devs have stated, despite Aerith loving Cloud, the truth is their relationship was still in the infancy state. They were nowhere near the stage to start a relationship. Yes, the Remake has her spend way more time with Cloud, but how much of that will matter in the grand scheme of things? In the og game, Aerith doesn't spend much time with Cloud because that's the point. The relationship wasn't near the starting point. While Aerith loved him, she didn't know him as a person. The game casts doubt on her love for him as a result.
