Im studying film from a historical perspective right now. His talk on subject matter and the use of mm film is really important. We have so many opportunities to tell some important stories, ESPECIALLY now. Things are weird. Let's make movies about it! Nice shout out to Vince Clark.😊

Seeing him grow, from starring in films like Mysterious Skin, to seeing him create a project like The Brutalist, is astounding. Bravo!

Too bad none of the questions talked about this movie in the greater context of his 3 films so far. Beyond a director just having a similar style throughout their work, theres a lot of overlap with Childhood og a leader and vox lux (especially repeated casting)
@rsfilmdiscussionchannel41683 күн бұрын
Gonna watch his first two before this one if I can, maybe I’ll spot similarities!
@HEAVYHEARTSMUSICКүн бұрын
Kind of a wasted question, everyone knows a true writer/director will have clear lines of intention throughout their work, repeated casting has almost nothing to do with that beyond pre-existing shorthand and a positive working relationship
@nms787223 сағат бұрын
@@HEAVYHEARTSMUSIC by repeated casting I meant having the same actor play one character as the parent and then as their child. Corbet does this in all 3 of his movies so far following big time jumps. I think it's a valid question because it shows how his focus with his movies is through changing historical periods and at a certain point character can get sacrificed through enforcing a bigger theme .

He explains it in the video very early on. Directing is a tough task, sleepless nights, you get fatter, and you go balder (stress).
