I honestly think this is the best film I’ve ever seen. I remember thinking exactly what Sir Anthony and Olivia Colman talk about here - there was not a single point in the entire movie where the thought of these people being actors entered my mind. It was so real. Both performances deserve the Oscar, they were both masterpieces.

To see Anthony so genuinely interested in what the director was saying, being such an important person himself, I didn’t realize how humble of a person he is. Nothing against the director as he is obviously brilliant, but it’s Anthony Hopkins!!

Wow what a tragic and heartbreaking film about a father with dementia. It highlights how our brain deteriorates with age and agonizingly loses all the memories we have. The film truly shows how it is difficult to cope with dementia. Seeing Anthony cry broke me down to tears because he was such a phenomenal actor. All aspects of the film including the editing, screenplay and score was perfect. And I’m happy that my all-time favorite actor win the Oscars, Bafta and Saga award all in one year. He is that good. 10/10.

Literally can't wait for this one!!! I can hear the audacious rapturous applause now in my mind's eye. They should introduce 'TEAM OSCAR' for this one. Seriously!! No one character is greater; it's a collaboration of combined genius endeavor. It's going to be a smorgasbord of raw human expression. I love the raw explosive magic of these movies. Shadowlands was my all time favourite movie, suffering separated into pain and happiness moments in linear fashion. But consciousness always whispers into the darkness, ever increasingly calling you forward to embrace more and more happiness within every moment of now and not reflective of any outward situation. It's all the joy and happiness of life! Anthony you have the most chrismatically appealing personalities of all time. You mold into each character, personality and expression. Your drive to embrace life in human form was so enormous one character played out on the big screen of life was like a drop in the ocean of human expression and reality. You were always thirsty for more. I love you your a true humble gentlemen of heart filled love. A real rare gem.

When I went to see The Father at the cinema, I thought of spending a nice time, but I got destroyed after seeing the film. Besides, sir Anthony Hopkins's performace was so brilliant and at the same time, heartbreaking especially in the ending, which made me cry quite a lot );. As a result of the movie, Hopkins won his 2nd Oscar for best actor in a deserved way.

I just finished watching the film- so beautiful and heartbreaking. I also had watched the 2016 Olivier Awards , where the actor who played the father also won Best Actor and the actress who played Anne was in Broadchurch, so that's a nice situation. But I also feel confused by some of it and yes, I am going to have to let it go, but more importantly, to put us in that state of being was such a genius writing move. Thanks.

the one thing I just realize is, anthony and olivia have a veryyyy similar approach in terms of acting after olivia won the oscar for the favourite, they did some interview, and one of the interviewer asked "how do you go abot finding the tragic and absurd and complexities of queen anne?" and she humbly answered "I don't know, I truly don't know". everytime some interviewer asked her as how did she accomplish the many emotions of queen anne character, she can't answer it because she didn't prepare it, she just deliver well, the most she said is if the script is as good then you can just do it, she also mention that yorgos' direction make her feel safe and when you feel safe then you can do the best out of you. the same as anthony, when she asked him about how did he find the core of the character anthony living with dementia, he said that it's so easy, he said "I was so knocked out by the script". he also repeatedly mention florian's directional work and quite surprise as it is his debut feature. he get such a good direction and a very well script so he delivers. the same thing about those 2 I just mention is, (if I can say much of it) anthony and olivia are a true born actor. it's rare for a person to just given a work like that and deliver without trying to do much of approach. they are both not method actors, whereas method actors always try to become something they are not so they can perform well as the characters, very different from anthony and olivia when they have the skill already to act so they deliver easily. these 2 people is a very lovable british persona and legend in acting world, they are so remarkable and I love them for what they able to do, such an inspiration for other actors if I must say.

And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small." Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves. If you should be righteous [in intention] - then indeed He is ever, to the often returning [to Him], Forgiving. And give the relative his right, and [also] the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully. Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful. And if you [must] turn away from the needy awaiting mercy from your Lord which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word.
