Gibt es das auch in Deutsch? Ich möchte das auch gerne machen. Wo kann man das in Deutschland kaufen?

I just bought a cutter like yours with the oil dispenser part and I notice the tip where the blade is... is wably. Moves side ways. Is that part suppose to be that loose?
@HandMadebyMari-Liis3 жыл бұрын
What I learned from Nikki was that she didn't recommend filling the oil dispenser part. She gave me a small glass bowl where the oil was separately in, so every time I wanted to make a cut I dipped the cutter in it and then made a cut. Yes, the cutter should be a bit loose, but not to the point that making cuts would make you feel as it would fall apart.

Amazing! I think about that foam base that you use. Does it not melt and smell when you solder?
@HandMadebyMari-Liis3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No it does not melt and smell because at first I only tack the glass pieces together. You would do it with small parts from the outside first. The amount is small but strong so I didn't have to add to much, but remember the soldering will only stick to where the fux has been put to. After the tacked parts have dried you would remove the base and do the same process from the inside as well.

From where did you get the pattern that you cut at the beginning of the video? Really nice work!

May I ask why you use pin instead of wax to place the glass on the forn??
@HandMadebyMari-Liis7 ай бұрын
I'm not sure that wax would have been helpful for that step, yet I haven't tried. I used pins to make sure that every piece fits in its designated spot. When I was sure that all of the pieces fit I moved on to Tacking, meaning - make all pieces connect. For me pins made the process easier.

Where did you get the Styrofoam mold!
@orcasgirl18 ай бұрын
Wherever stained glass supplies are sold. They come in different shapes to fit specific patterns.

I wonder if you could use superglue and graphite powder instead of lead?

I'm not sure, I haven't tried that.

Could one do the same, except in reverse:? Tack the pieces from the inside and finish on the outside? In other words use the inside of the mould.
@HandMadebyMari-Liis6 ай бұрын
I'm not sure, I have never tried that. I can't remember exactly, but I think the mold didn't have an opening in the middle. Unless if it did, it was small, very small.

How many hours did that take?
@HandMadebyMari-Liis3 жыл бұрын
Not sure how many hours, but it took me 3 months. I did it on my freetime next to working full time and going to school.

How you attached the glass to that top piece??great video ♡
@HandMadebyMari-Liis3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I do remember it being a tricky part indeed, I did this lamp over 4 years ago. Nikki did show me how to do it, If I remember correctly we took the top part and added a lot of flux around the cap, on the part where the glass parts would be connected. As with the glass pieces we added the copper foil around the glass so the flux and soldering would stick. Yet with the top part, because it is already metal I did not have to copper foil that edge, it was enough to add flux and solder the top glass pieces to it. Tacking the top was difficult and getting the glass pieces looking/fitting right was a challenge, but totally doable, just stay patience with yourself and double check when attaching the top glass pieces to the top.
