Why have anyone been suprised of chelsea rise? The past 5 season including this it goes Chelsea /Leicester/ Chelsea/ Man C. The core players or players in around the team have been almost remained the same. Luiz, Azpiculeta, Fabregas, Willian, Pedro Hazard. They had only lose Costa and Courtois. Thibaut have been replace efficiently and only really missed Costa esp last season. Hence look Hazard reliant this season but surely Morata seems to getting his groove on. It seems Chelsea players have more power. 2 champion winning side with 2 different coaches. Once this core is not happy they simply dont play. 2 coaches gets sacked. New coach turn up. As talented as they are they play got easily with the system as they did have. Difference being Sarri is more attacking than previous two regime who are more defensive coaches in Conte and Mourinho

From Alex: you make a great point about cohesion. Having players who've been in the squad for three or more seasons together makes a huge difference. We looked at this in our video on Spurs earlier this season.

Finally get to see a full set of a jigzaw puzzle but no thanks in large part which is spectacular in Guardiola Man City's team. Still early though. Not being from the city. Had Gerrard leave. Dzul Azizan first of all you are overestimating how good these players are, the core has stayed together which was vital for us as player cohesion is important but this thing of saying “they don’t play when their not happy” this happened once under Mourinho but there were so many locker room problems and a lot of turmoil surrounding the club. Last season the players did play they didn’t “throw” the season away like many are saying and some players were pissed off because we weren’t winning anymore, we got found out and Conte didn’t want to change anything he stuck to what wasn’t working.

I think the reason Sarri hasn't rejuvenated Morata the same way he did Mertens is precisely because we rarely go for high crosses. Morata is a big target man, as is Giroud. We would benefit greatly from moving to a small forward line like Napoli and Liverpool have. Should circumstances require a big man up forward, David Luiz can drive up whilst Azpilicueta and Alonso help form a rudimentary back three.

A great many top tier teams are utilising this high line, high press and I remember Bayern doing so under Pep. The problem arose when they encountered Real Madrid who “simply” played counter attack and trashed then, it was a little embarrassing towards the end of the match. Guardiola's system is called positional play which comprises of Total Football. It's not that different from Sarriball, however, he has incorporated dangerous counter attacks via quick transitions at City. When Man City has the ball, the full backs act as inverted full backs which means they join the midfield. David Silva and De Bryune or Bernando Silva push forward into spaces between the Center backs and fullbacks. This is achieved by making sure the wingers (Sane and Sterling or Mahrez) stay wide (almost hugging the touchline) to make space for the midfieders to attacks between the CBs and FBs, This is just one way of how Guardiola uses his fullbacks. At times, we will see Mendy being more of an attacking fullback than Walker. This creates an overload on the opposition's defence. Basically, it is almost impossible to beat this City side (the only stern test is Liverpool). They are dangerous when they have the highest possession which is usually every game, and they are rutheless in counter attacks. They can beat teams that sit back deeply (park the bus) and those that press them. Chelsea on the other hand play the same way, so it is easier to figure them out. Also the way Man City press without the ball is completely different from SarriBall. In my opinion, Guardiola's positional play style is better. It is easier to stop Chelsea than City. Pep has many ways to brutally attack an opponent, the guy is a genius.
@ahmadsyakir94876 жыл бұрын
@@thuo1000 However you have to remember Pep always credited the sucessful-ness of his tactics to his players' technical prowess.
@HHHBFResurrected6 жыл бұрын
The main difference between Pep's iteration of tiki taka and Sarri's is the vertical passing into spaces + the use of two creative playmakers in the midfield rather than one deep lying playmaker (or Regista for hipsters). City is a whole other story but at Barca & Bayern his teams were wider and emphasized working opportunities through the middle - it's why he toyed with inverted WB's in Germany, adds another threat in the middle from a player stationed out wide. Sarri's teams play narrower and emphasize vertical passes to the flanks. Mark Thuo's comment was right in that tactically Pep's City are a phenomenon, they incorporate so many tricks of the same base philosophy on a game by game basis that you can't pin them down to a comparison, they are NOT a tiki taka team like his Barca were.
@thuo10006 жыл бұрын

Sarri can Win the Euro or Carabao cup this season,I agree that later on the season,his players fatigue and problems start to come,like it did last season just after Napoli almost won the Serie A,but I believe this will be the breakthrough season for Sarri,by winning a Euro or Carabao Cup. What lies ahead for us this season is interesting,I think we need a good January transfer window,have to see what happens.
@jishnudey58456 жыл бұрын
The fatigue thing is overhyped. If the players were really getting that fatigued under Sarri then we would have seen more injuries in Sarri's teams. Last year the only player to suffer a major injury was Ghoulam. Now contrast that to Bayern or even Juve's injury woes, you'll see that Sarri's team dont tend to get injured that often. A lot of that is down to the fact that Sarri likes to keep his training sessions extremely short, which you do mention in the video. Shorter sessions go a long way in ensuring that the players dont get fatigued much. Less fatigue during training = better recovery = better high tempo pressing on match day.
@jishnudey58456 жыл бұрын
@Conqueror In CHRIST Yes I know fatigue doesnt 'necessarily' mean injury, but can be a factor in a lot of injuries. A fatigued muscle is a vulnerable muscle prone to strains. You cannot compare the depth in squad of Chelsea to the depth that teams like Juve or City have. Even Arrigo Sacchi played with a very high line in Milan and won numerous trophies. However the Milan players werent brought up playing that way, rather they adjusted to the system. The rationale behind a high defensive line is to reduce the gaps between the midfield line and the defensive line. That way the opponents dont have much space to transition. If the attack and midfield pushes up and the defence stays back, there would he huge amounts of space right in front of the defence ( check some of Nouman's videos on Man Utd and their defensive woes). Regarding winning trophies, remember that it is not child's play. Each and every team has their own performance/ video analysis team which not only analyse a team's performance but also analyse thoroughly their opponents. I dont think it would be realistic to hope Chelsea winning trophies this year. A more realistic goal would be to aim for a top 3 spot. A player like Fekir is highly needed though come Jan. Yes I can understand your frustration as a Chelsea fan, but just think about the other alternatives that you all had- Jokanovic got sacked, Blanc was an option but I cant for sure say that he would have been undefeated so far had he been the coach.
@jishnudey58456 жыл бұрын
@Conqueror In CHRIST As I said I can empathise with you, but just consider for a moment the alternatives you had/ have. Barcelona also bought players like Madrid- Coutinho, Neymar, Dembele etc. No one is saying or believing that an unbeaten streak equals a trophy and I admit that there are improvements to be made. But imagine what would have happened if Jokanovic or Blanc came instead of Sarri. Its hard to say how well they would have done. Yes I agree management plays a role, but they can only do so much. Ultimately 11 players will play the 'way' the coach tells them and trains them.
@lugebeatzz87476 жыл бұрын
Some fans think you can challenge an organised team like Man City over night apart from Ancelloti, Conte and Mourinho are the only few managers to win the league in their first seasons!!! And Chelsea played an entertaining football with Ancelloti and won trophies so I can't see why he can't try it with Chelsea!!! Just need couple of adjustments to meet City's standards(they used 100 million + for full backs only)

@Conqueror In CHRIST So according to you, who should have been the ideal coach for Chelsea?
@jishnudey58456 жыл бұрын
@Conqueror In CHRIST Well Ancelotti declined to join. Ranieri is good but he is called the tinker man for no reason. Players like Hazard would have probably left had Ranieri been there because of his defensive approach, and its not easy to replace someone like Eden.

They just got banged by City... Makes you wonder if this philosophy may be applied at the EPL, or if it's just a case of a manager incapable of change and evolution, while being completely outclassed by a tactical genius in the form of Guardiola. Chelsea are a shambles now, and I'd be surprised if Sarri stays at the club, let alone Hazard. They've been surpassed by United for God's sake.

I mean we are third now and in the Europa league final. The style can be implemented in the PL, we just lacked the right personnel. Emerson and Loftus Cheek have really helped the team out. Shoutout to CHO too.

This system would work if Kanté switched roles with Jorginho (Kante should be defensive), play players in their right positions and don't press too hard as Chelsea are vulnerable to counter-attacks. This system will need not drastic but slight changes but Sarri can be stubborn. We need a player on the right that can push up like the left, maybe Zappacosta. Sarri just need time and appropriate players for his system to work. I rather finish 5th now then 2nd next season, we will do better next season. Sarri's system (when completed and executed) is one that can give top 4 finish. Even though we lost on penalties to City, we improved considering the last game we lost 6-0, we should keep it like that. I know I could be wrong somewhere so feel free to comment your suggestions below

Our defence improved massively because we played Hazard as a false 9. Hazard is a liability at on the wing because he doesn't track back nor does he defend properly. There is no issue with Jorginho playing deep and Kante being on the right side of midfield. Sarri maybe stubborn but I don't believe that he has the freedom to select the team he wants to play (same goes for the previous managers). If the board want Sarri to succeed then they need to start trusting him and let him use the young players and develop them into his system (when I say young I don't necessarily mean the youth but players like Emerson, RLC, Kovacic and maybe ampadu at RB if possible). Our current players aren't improving and are holding back our system. Players Alonso,azpi, Pedro and barkley don't have anyone to complement their abilities and do not link up well with other (i cannot count how many times these players ignore eachother and act as if they never play together and start making silly decisions)

Tifo would you make a video about box to box mildfielders? They seem to become a solid trend again in top sides.
