I want to get a job working on stainless pipe but don’t know where to look into. I graduated from a welding school with a bunch of carbon pipe certs and am trying to get into a pipefitters union but they take forever to get into. What companies or industries can I try to get into?

I wish there were some kind of weld lab or something where you could go and try different equipment and processes. I would love to try a flex head torch and have not had opportunity to try stainless. I've done carbon with stainless filler at school. Heard that stainless on stainless was easier???

Is it reasonable that there is no company that manufactures a hand grip where the welding wire is inserted and moves towards the welding area by pressing it with the thumb finger. A successful project if a company produced this special grip for TIG welding.who is agree with me ?!

there are machines wich mimics mig, but in tig. Ewm has TIGspeed, and probably all other premium brands like fronius, kemmpi,.. wires are in hot or cold mode. It is all great till you see price for wire feeder.

When free handing the tungsten is perpendicular to the pipe, but when walking the root - we have tungsten at some angle, and if I add too much wire or if I am too slow - the liquid metal of the root comes too close to tungsten due to gravity and welding becomes impossible because I need to increase tungsten angle even more to avoid touching the puddle. Any comments how to overcome that?

Have less tungsten stick out and keep more perpendicular to the pipe.
