Great tips! Big fan of Pledge as well. Works great on motorcycle helmet faceshields too! I learned of it, from the helicopter pilots that flew us to job sites. They used it on the windshield of the chopper. Made it easier to clean off the splattered bugs, dust, etc.....

Funny thing happened while i was in the middle of this class. My order from Furick came with REAL cups. I installed the Jazzy set up so far , then my welds went from black/grey crappy no matter what I tied. 1st 3 passes with the Furick cups were perfect color and nice small heat affected zone. Only will ever touch the cups that came with Eastwood unit for junk steel, or toss em in the china junk can. Furick was one of your best top 3 tips at least.

I went to Fabtech! (I live near Chicago) I bought a pair of pink Defiant Metal Tig gloves and a set of cups from Michael Furick. He even gave me a short "lesson" on welding inside aluminum corners. These are not one of my strong points right now. Whenever I mentioned your name, people only had good things to say about you. Myself included. I couldn't believe I walked the whole show without sitting down! Not too awful bad for a pair of legs about to turn 70!

At 1:35 plus - look at your foot as you press the pedal down it hits the electrical connector. Eventually you're going to have a problem that will drive you nuts trying to figure out (intermittent electrical contact) Should ground out the piece that hits so as to prevent future problems.

I found comfortable to lay straight objects going from middle of my torso away. Little offset is needed but when you pull with your bigger back muscled its more stable as motion only happens in one way

I laughed at the cartoon gauge pointing at "All the heat in the universe." I may never have gotten to all the heat, but I've certainly reached temperatures appropriate for forming a star and a few orbiting planets. 🪙

I'm always welding piping roots. my arm won't allow me to to walk the cup so I glide along. I grab the torch from mostly the top and my fingers glide along the pipe. maybe it's the ove gloves that help with that and I don't feel any heat.

That depends on a number of things, the Material, the Thickness of it, the size weld you want, welding "thick to thin". If for instance your material is 10 mm or more thick Aluminium, you may take 10 to 15 seconds to get it up to temperature before you can start to add filler. The Golden "3 second rule" for Steel or Stainless is "If you can't get a puddle in 3 Seconds, you need more Amps". Aluminium takes as long as it takes, I have been Welding 65 mm Square blocks to 3.2 mm thick angle, and Even Pre-heating the Blocks it takes a while to get the Block up to temperature and Not Destroy the Angle, I had 240 Amps set on that one. I killed one Welding Machine (It's away being repaired [I hope] at the Moment) doing that job and Burst a cooling line on another machine. You pretty much Have to have a Cooler on your Welding Machine for these types of Amp ranges.

Unfortunately I work on Extremely 3 Dimensional parts, and you can't get further away, you are limited where you can lean on. I'm trying clamps etc, to give me temporary places to lean on to get the weld done. One of my biggest gripes are 99% of rotators DON'T have a through Hole, they are only about 2 1/2 " to 3" deep, so if you have a 26" long Pipe job and you want to weld a clevis in the end, you can't do it in the Rotator, you have to do it in the Vice a Quarter of a turn at a time, Bugger.

PSA: They don't make that specific Pledge anymore - branded "natural beauty". The "natural beauty" line is gone and they remerched/changed it to "enhancing polish". I used that one like crazy on headlights and everything so when it disappeared I freaked for a minute. But they just changed the name 🎉 Rock on.

I've already listed the SDS sheets for pledge. Formerly MSDS for us old bastards For the LOVE of GOD, read the GD data sheets before the news does a documentary about the people who've damaged their eyesight!! Key words 👉 prolonged exposure, irreversible damaged, toxic (two of the ingredients) I've already had to show people the SDS and have them email the parent company to verify 🤦‍♂️
