You could do quick multiple mini dots instead of big ones too. Always add filler even with dots ❤

For those who are absolute noobs like myself: my welds were gray, I tried changing the amperage, the travel speed, the amount of filler rod, I tried cleaning it better and nothing worked. Turns out I was using a #5 cup with a diffuser on like 7 cfh. Switch to a #7 cup with a gas lens, turned the cfh up to 15 and now my welds are golden. It felt so satisfying.

Bend the end that goes in the drill chuck and put it between the chuck jaws, and it holds very well. I do this all the time with 0.035 MIG wire for thin steel

Isn't the filler rod the only consumable in this context?

when changing the gas bottle I experienced quite another problem. I screw in the gauge it leaks, I tighten it tighter it still leaks, I tell myself the gauge has a problem, I put another gauge in, same thing. The end of the story is violent. In France the sealing on the gauges is done metal against metal like a rounded brass tip. However, the problem came from a chip coming from I don't know where in the female part of the bottle. Arrival of the 2 mano races whose bearings where the sealing is done have been damaged

All great about you but one ideea... You said that you came up with the ideea of hand buffing the weld, cool, and then you said that other people use a different product... So what's the truth? Everyone copied you or you got a hint from others too... 😅😅😅

After over 12 months of watching Dusty’s videos the best tip I’ve leant that is now helping make my welds look like he’s is he only uses 1/8 filler rods! By using more filler material the work doesn’t get as hot and really helps get that perfect looking profile!

THANK YOU!!!! After this video I went out and got a flow meter to check what I was getting out of the torch head and the flow was 1/3 of what the regulator was indicating!!!! I troubleshot the entire system and found the hose from the machine to the torch was bad. Installed a new hose and BAM!!!....my problems are solved!!! It's almost like someone else is using my welder....but it's ME!!......without your insight I'd still be lost. THANK YOU!!!!

I graduated HSWT (Hobart) in 1990, had numerous bench TIG jobs building motorcycle frames and swingarms as well as hot rod fab in central California. I watched your video with some hesitation as there's a ton of how-to-TIG videos by guys who shouldn't be teaching at all- and you're absolutely right: you need the proper foundation, theory and fundamentals. Now, 34 years later and a couple of successful businesses under my belt, I want to dedicate the time on this very perishable skill. Your theory, technique and teaching style are SOLID. I look forward to taking your classes. No matter one's experience, it is a perishable skill and you're the best I've seen. I wish you the best success, and thank you for what you're doing!

Thanks, another great video! Any tricks to welding a larger frame? (5’x10’) It looks like you’re welding horizontally on each side but not sure how I could orientate a large frame to weld horizontally on the outside joints… and vertical up isn’t in my skill-set at this point 😉
