The reason he says that is because tig welding breaks you're ego. You have to realize you suck. Even a pretty good beginner looks awesome to a stick welder. But the better you get the more you can pick out that's flawed. Because it's such a perfect (theoretically) process

Those arc shots are still getting better. If only I could see as good when I weld as I do when I watch you weld. The welding equipment manufacturers need you for some consultation for their videos. I have not seen a welding video from anyone else that is even in the same league as yours. Since I only TIG occasionally, it's always a great refresher to watch your videos and see how it's supposed to be done. Thank you. I have a couple of TIG fingers that I use for all of my welding and I put my buddy onto them too.

This is like watching dancing, to a particular rhythm. Very elegant when one treats metals in this manner , that is with great respect. I always thought that the duty of education is to take away and remove all the clumsiness mental and physical clumsiness with which we are born. Not many people eradicate their physical clumsiness, but a good welder certainly does and suing my experience I can say, sometimes even better than a surgeon! May sound surprising to some, but it is true and I shall not go into details. Congratulations for this video.

The Tig finger is great, although I think I may need to buy an xl, Im one of those uncoordinated chaps that need to rest on two fingers, as an alternative, I pulled one end of the tig finger out of itself and sort of just wrap it around my knuckle while one of my fingers are in the open end, seems to work lmao, oh btw, a REAL money saver, I shrunk 4 pairs of gloves, about 80 aud worth, got my 5th pair, and a tig finger, and they are still going, if that doesn't convince anyone to grab a tig finger, Idk what will.

I absolutely adore your videos, Jody. As an aspiring welder, you're helping me progress as best as I am able to by myself with no schooling/professional training (yet). I have a question, though. When you're welding the T-joint at the beginning of the video, are you resting your welding hand on something or are you just free handing it? If you're free handing, you have some seriously steady hands. Any tips on how to keep my hands from shaking to make a strong weld?

Just learning TIG. I'm using a 1/16 tungsten with er70s 1/16 filler rod on 1/16" steel. DC- polarity at 65 amps was my settings using the 1 amp per .001 of thickness. Getting some black soot and also my tungsten is balling up. Any ideas?? I ground the steel and wiped it down with acetone as well.

Free hand TIG weld are good for "Filled" especially the root pass, while walking the cup good for hot pass, fill pass and capping on filled too........
