Man your arc shots are on point. Watching the puddle in that clarity had helped me so much being able to study the puddle and your torch angle and arc length. Man I wish you knew how much you have helped me I’ve learned more from you then what I’ve learned at my community college all they want to do is talk about hunting and crap. But I just want to thank you for what you do and for what you have done for me.

Topic suggestion for podcast: "Lessons Learned" Anything you guys have a story of how you learned something, even if it's simple like start uncomfortable so you'll be comfortable as you progress, or welding towards yourself to avoid burning yourself on hot metal reaching out, etc.

Would it be possible for you to do a video explaining what all of the different weld types are? 1G, 2G etc... You always put out amazing content and amazing video quality. I just started a teaching job and would love to be able to show my students on a big screen. Thank you for the great content
@brandonlowe78086 жыл бұрын
Ty Gramley G= groove weld, both sides are beveled like in this video, F= fillet weld, welding with one piece 90 degrees to the other, 1 position = flat like in the video, 2 position = horizontal, 3 position= vertical, 4 psoition is over head, the G and F can be combined with thw numbers, for example the weld in thia video was a flat groove weld so it would be a 1G weld

I've never seen anyone bevel the edges and lay down a root and cap on 1/8" steel before. Does this make for a significantly stronger weld than just butt welding with higher amps (125A) and 1/16" or 3/32" filler metal? If so, would it be beneficial to follow this same procedure, leaving a gap, then running a root and cap pass, when welding rectangular structural tubing with 1/8" wall thickness?
@perwqaz9856 Жыл бұрын
What was the value of the welding current for the root pass and filling pass ???

is there a way to bend test that type of weld? I actually did something similar that I came up with on my own. I only have a 110v outlet so i limited to 90 amps. I figured if I bevel it with a landing about half the thickness and used no gap that it should penetrate. I did two passes like you did and it seem like it worked really good. I'm going to bend them around about a 1 inch radius just to see what it does. and acid etch my welds as soon as I get some of that paint remover stuff you said you can use.

How do you weld on the bed of the truck without frying the computer ? I want to build a flat bed and work and weld off the back of it but I don't want to disconnect the battery cables every time I do a job . thank you
@rshep1986 жыл бұрын
Generally you won’t fry the computer, unless you’re using high frequency tig. For piece of mind, install a battery disconnect switch.

Hello Jody, I'm a new welder in Brazil. I have a question here: is the support plate you are welding the material in aluminum? For the weld bead that was made by joining the 2 materials they did not join with the support plate. Thank you.

Hi, i have some difficulty to weld 10mm steel tubing 1mm wall. I use 1,6mm rod with about 25~30 amp. In my experimentation i think it's a little hot. But whith less amp i find the puddle really long to form and i m scared to put to mutch heat. Any tips on that ? Is to make bicycle rack.

Hey , thanks a lot for the videos so far. I took a welding course in college and enjoyed it especially working with MIG and TIG. Hey Jody, did you ever watch the Video "TIG Welding Technique: Lay Wire Tips and Tricks" by Weld dot com? And if you did what is your opinion on "Mr. Tig" being a long time welding instructor and not even knowing the Laywire Technique? In my opinion he kind of tries to talk it down so much because "what he doesnt know cant be a proper technique right?"
