TIGER ARMOUR AT 3.0 - Pz. III M in War Thunder - OddBawZ feat.

In today's video, I'm joined by PhlyDaily in our Pz. III M and Pz. III L to see just how effective volumetric shells and armour is.

The Panzer 3 M was a little chonk of a German Tank before but now it's got some serious improvements with the new patch. This and the Panzer 3 L have the same spaced armour on the turret. This comes in the form of a 20mm thick high hardness wall that sits off of the main turret mantlet. Because of the materials and space, the Pz 3 M and Pz 3 L now have up to 120mm of protection against some shells.
When you shoot a Panzer 3 with an APHE, the high hardness armour detonates the shell causing its penetration power to diminish. This also works the same for HEAT. I highly recommend if you're playing allies to bring out a few solid shot rounds or APCR to help deal with this staggeringly effective little beast.
Although it seems like all tanks armour in War Thunder has been improved overall making for more exciting dog fights in tanks, this Pz 3 specifically has had a huge buff. Definitely revisit this!

Definately a positive change. The Panzer IIIs look awesome with the winterketten and with the FHA (which most tanks should actually have) the effective thickness of the frontal turret armor on the L/M is 75mm+. That's more than any of the Panzer IVs. And with their mobility and the buff to the 50mm, they are now really, really good.

Volumetric shells don't work as intended. They are a failure, and make the game less true to real life. Aiming for weak spots in armour such as machine gun ports is no longer viable. How in earth is it more realistic? You don't know shit. Seems Odd doesn't know shit either.

IRL machine gun ports were no where near as bad as they are made out to be, and the fact that 70mm-150mm shells can no longer slip through a 10mm hole is not a bad thing. American MG ports that used to be a weakspot are still reliable weakspots in my experience, I have not noticed any of the issues pointed out in his video as most of them are very rare and you really have to be trying to hit perfectly on the corner of a vehicles armor.

I think the volumetric update requires some new learning in how to shoot, but overall is a good change. At least in the few games I've played so far. I've had some of the most fun tank fights I've had in as long as I can remember.

Yes and no, angled armor is acting really weird right now. Something is really wrong about this update. 6.0+ is almost impossible to win as germany now. I mainly play britain and germany before anyone calls me a veraboo or whatever it's called. Heat fs bounces more than the matildas tits.

8:56 Hey Odd! I know how to fix this bug! You go into your control settings and go to tank control. Scroll down to camera control. The button that is causing the bug is "Tracking Camera(ground vehicle)" Unbind this or set it to something that isn't your zoom key, then re-bind your zoom key. Hope this helps!

Gosh, I just had an M4A2 match and boy did the volumetric shell update change the armor meta. Moreover, I particularly noticed that KV turret ring shots (and even Whirbledoos at slight angles) were tougher to pen , than say last week.

BawZ, you always talk about how the Sherman variants are your favorite tanks because they’re “tank tanks”. Jack of all trades vehicles. That is exactly the feeling I get when I play the Pz III L&M. Good mobility, good armor, and a good gun with good post pen damage. Oh, and that 3.5 second reload is nice. It can snipe, brawl, flank, and defend. Truly a “tank tank”.

I love the Pz 3M because of the spaced armor. It works well against the poorly fused Russian shells that the likes of the T34s and KV1s fire, (MD5 fuses get triggered by the spaced plate, then explode outside of the tank hull.)

the best part is hearing him say "this is gonna be a good thing its gotten rid of weak spots" meanwhile as you go up in BR the american tank tree loses armor it seems. i mean the m18 is 5.7 and gets 2 weak spots on panthers and tigers from the front yet they can pop most american tanks at almost any angle after volumetric was implemented
