Tiger I - World War II. Tank | Speed Modeling Ep. 18 [Maya 2015]

Good day everybody! :) welcome to another speed modeling video. This time it is the famous german tank "Tiger I." from the 2nd World War. it is just the basemodel again without textures. The polycount is around 32k Tris.
I decided to slow down the video a little bit more than usual so you guys have it easier to follow the process.

Level up modeling ! This one is insane man, a pleasure to see your video, and to see you back with this type of video, I know that many people are more interested in your gaming videos, but I love your diversity. The final result is insane, so many details, compared to some pictures, it looks pretty dope, I really love it ! have you ever thought about modeling but also with color and a background more detailed ? Considering how good you are at this, it could be pretty awesome ! By the way, I watched the entire video, but I think that many people won't watch it till the end, 24 minutes May be a bit long compared to your shorter videos that people are used to :/ but anyway, amazing work man, I love it !

thanks man :) nice to hear. I still suck with color and textures :v but i am working on it :) the background could easily have more detail but I mainly use it as reference for the mainmodel so people have it easier :) another madman who just watched the whole thing O.o my plan is to make the speed modeling videos around 20 minutes from now on so the process is not to sped up and better watch. people don´t have to watch it as a whole but they can skip though it and get inspired by my way of working and maybe learn something :)

Oh I see, I can't say anything in that case ! :D Madman but inspired by your stuff, because of so much effort you put in it and so much passion as well; I have to respect that, I can't just watch your video and skipping through it ! :D Oh I understand, you mean like some sort of tutorial ? I feel like this one was a tough nut to crack but you managed to get it done really amazingly mate :) The technic that you do like use different viewpoints to finish the vertical and linear parts of the machine is pretty damn dope and using the 2D blueprints I guess as refference points :D it's really nice :) I heard that if it looks good from 3 point/angles it'll look just as good from the other ones also :D so you basically managed it :D you made this one hell of a great looking tank :) I think that this could make some use in future :D so don't just delete it :) Cheers

It was ok, there are harder nuts to crack :P glad to hear that you liked it! yeah there are a lot of different techniques out there. I try to master my own :) haha no I wont delete any of my work! :)

Nice job, although the mantlet (the front of the turret) could use a bit of work, because rn it doesn't look anything like that of Tiger I. If you ever get back to this model keep it in mind.

What Is is that you are doing when you are modelling the muzzle brake? I am making a Panther one and it seems so easy when you do it.

Is it okay to texture, rig or render when the objects are cutting into each other like that? I use 3DSMax but I have trouble with faces and objects cutting into each other when when doing high-poly and texturing.

Just...wow! That's amazing how you modeled it from scratch just from the picture like that. I watched the whole 24 minutes before I even knew it! What was the total elapsed time?

wow man thats crazy, would not have though that so many people would watch the whole process. So you like the slower and longer video if it comes to modeling? the total time is around 9-10 Hours.

Late Reply, he used the Mirror tool I think which you can find under [ Mesh > Mirror ]. Be sure to combine the pieces together before using it. hopefully this is what you're looking for *flies away*

Thanks for answering the comment I missed! :) There is the mirror tool. Also back in the day I used to duplicate my mesh (CTRL+D), than group it (CTRL+G) and afterwards put the transformation value of the group on "x-axis" for example to -1. but i think its better to just use the "mirror tool" :)
