A slight correction to @lunkydog's comment. I was involved, as a volunteer, with the original building of Hallett Motor Raacing Circuit in 1976. "Mad Mike" Halley and I 'stitched together' some of the first tire walls at the track. From the early days the term "The Bitch" referred to the turns 7, 8, and 9 combination, not just turn 9. Turn names have changed some over the years and some by user groups. An example: Turn 2 is called 'Coyote Corner' on the official track map but is known as 'The Bus Stop' to most motorcycle racers and riders. At some point after track ownership changed hands in the 2000-2001 years, track owners decided to give turns 7, 8, and 9 each their own name. Turn 9 became 'The Toly' in honor of Anatoly Arutunoff, the track's original creator and owner. Lol, you can guess about turns 7 and 8.

Fun tidbit of Hallett history, Turn 9 is/was known as "The Bitch". I think they're trying to memory hole that one. They had an IMSA race there in '78 and I saw Peter Gregg set the lap record that lasted for many years. David Hobbs was there in a BMW. That day was brutally hot and one of the first races ever held there.

It was still called that in 1992 when I ran overanother motorcycle that misjudged that particular corner....wellthe rider 3' away from the motorcycle did the misjudging. He wa likely happy I chose to run over his bike and not him since he was occupying myline at the time of the accident.

The tracks designer Anatoly Arutunoff is a legend in SCCA racing and one of the area's most colorful characters. Definitely worth a google if you are interested in racing history.

I'm pretty sure my husband and I were the only two spectators that did not come with a team. I'm hoping to change that, and maybe the Oklahoma Furs might bring a car.

Not the only two. I spoke with two spectators Sunday who are working on a Yugo entry for next year. I actually made up fliers and handed them out weeks before the race to promote it. It will be much bigger next year with more entries and spectators.

Yep, it is Stockholm syndrome. It was first studied after a botched bank job that turned into a hostage crisis that lasted way too long.
