I didn't get to see any great games but I will never forget '76. A home run knocked out of the park. Willie Horton, Rusty Staub, Leflore's blazing speed. The Bird. The park food. Loved it, loved all of it.

Miss watching the games at Tiger Stadium. On tv and listening to Ernie Hartwell and paul Carey on radio and the tigers had a lot of there players for 10 or more years in 80s and 90s

My dad used to buy us skyline tickets for just $2 each, after the 3rd inning we would move to the front row LOL! Ahhh the good ole days.

I attended several games at the "Corner" , from 1969 (my first) to the second to last game 1999. I will always cherish the great memories of that wonderful ballpark. I will miss it for all of my life. Comerica is a great park, but still nothing like the atmosphere of Tiger Stadium.

I never been to Tiger Stadium, but just from watching Tiger games on TV, when they were on national TV, or playing the Orioles, you could see how great of a ballpark it must have been to watch baseball. Even upper deck seats in the outfield were good seats.

Matt Sheppard is the gentleman doing this video and he is now the Tigers new play by play announcer and I don't think they could have made a better choice. I'm very excited to listen to Shep calling the games he is going to be awesome at this, and he has paid his dues in TV and radio and has truly earned this! Congratulations Shep!

the best game I ever saw at Tiger stadium was in 1987 vs the Orioles when Bill Madlock hit 3 home runs.. tigers were down 7-4 bottom 9th when Johnny Grubb,Matt Nokes and,Madlock all hit back to back to back jacks to tie it on 3 pitches off Tom Neidenfuer and Alan Trammell drove home Jim Walewander with a single up the middle in extra innings to win 8-7.. I will never ever forget it as long as I live..

S C Dude, I was at that game. Gibby came up next and hit a rocket that almost took the right fielder's head off. I remember Freddie Lynn hit a 3run homer early for the Orioles. After Maddock tied it I thought the ball park was gonna fall down. Lmao

I was there as well, lower deck down the left field line. IIRC we had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th after we had it tied, too.

scootdaws25 that was Matt Nokes that hit that line shot in the lower deck in right after Grubb hit the facing of the bleachers

As someone who grew up in Maryland in the 1980s and early 90s, I didn't get to see a lot of Tiger games. Unless they were playing the Orioles, or were on the NBC GOW, or ABC MNB. But Kirk Gibson's HR against the San Diego Padres, against Goose Gossage, is something I got to see. 1 of the best power relievers ever, against someone who could anyone's fastball, out of any ballpark in MLB.

The best game/s ever at Tiger Stadium? As someone who saw many games there over the span of 35 years I can give a definitive answer as someone who was there when Gibby hit that home run... The best games by far were ANY game that Mark Fidrych pitched in the summer of 1976. These was the most magical, electrifying atmosphere I have even been witness to. It's a shame he did have a better supporting cast or he'd have been even more dominant. There was never anyone/anything like him before and no one like him since. RIP Bird.

My favorite part of Gibson's home run was when you heard Sparky in the dugout say to Gibson, "He don't want to walk you." Sparky then made the gesture with his hands like he was holding a bat and motioned to Gibson to put the wood to it - and he did. Hitting that off of Gossage had to be sweet for Gibby after Gossage abused him so much as a Yankee. It was even sweeter that Gibby did it in the World Series after Gossage told his manager, "I got this." Very, very sweet indeed!

In '68 I was at the "Gates Brown Double Header". Gates pinch hit a single to score the winning run in the ninth. In the second game he scored the winning run in, yes, the ninth inning!

Gibson's HR was awesome, but it overshadows the most important HR from that game. The HR hit by Lance Parrish the inning before, off Gossage. THAT was the game winning hit. Gibson's 2nd HR was just icing on the cake.

That crack of the bat from Reggie Jackson's mammoth ASG home run...had the ball not hit the tower, it might have landed in Windsor. In all the years i have watched baseball, that sound still resonates.

What about: -Lou Gehrig benching himself? -Mark Fidrych's "coming out party" against the Yankees? -Frank Tanana's gem on the last day of the '87 season? I know...you didn't put these together, and they all had to do with the post season, Reggie's blast excepting.

Shoud have renovated Tiger Stadium. The Cubs and Red Sox have proven that with money and patience a complete overhaul could have been done at Michigan and Trumble. Instead we got a replacement stadium. It's new, but a cavernous frying pan with seats a mile from the field.
