The Jaguar (Jaguarius onca) is a big cat native primarily to South America, it is one of the only three living big cat species found in the New World, the others are the Puma (Puma concolor) and the Jaguarundi (Herpailurus yagouaroundi), it is the only extant species of the genus Jaguarius (New World Roaring Cats), which originated from North America and was more diverse while first appearing in the Early Pleistocene, the genus also has two other recognized species being the extinct American Lion (Jaguarius atrox) and the Yucatan Leopard (Jaguarius balamoides), this genus is in fact most closely related to the bohebaos (genus Neofelis), to which the new world roaring cats (genus Jaguarius) shared a more recent common ancestor with during the early Pleistocene in Eastern Asia, the jaguar originated exclusively from North America and there are four recognized subspecies of jaguar, the most basal of the four jaguar subspecies is the North American Jaguar (Jaguarius onca angustus), then followed by the Central American Jaguar (Jaguarius onca centralis), with the most recent split being between the Amazon Jaguar (Jaguarius onca onca) and the Andean Jaguar (Jaguarius onca peruvianus).

The Tiger (Uncia tigris) is a large cat native to Asia, it is known for being the largest cat species alive today, it is one of the only two extant species of the genus Uncia, the other is the Snow Leopard (Uncia uncia), the tiger originated from Western Asia and there are twelve recognized subspecies of tiger, because the tiger originated from Western Asia, the most basal known tiger subspecies is the †Caspian Tiger (Uncia tigris virgata), then followed by the Bengal Tiger (Uncia tigris tigris), with the most recent split being between two clades, the Uncia tigris altaica group, known as the North Asian tigers containing three subspecies: the South China Tiger (Uncia tigris amoyensis), the †Wanhsien Tiger (Uncia tigris acutidens), and the Siberian Tiger (Uncia tigris altaica) and the Uncia tigris sondaica group, known as the Southeast Asian tigers containing seven subspecies: the Indochinese Tiger (Uncia tigris corbetti), the Malayan Tiger (Uncia tigris jacksoni), the Sumatran Tiger (Uncia tigris sumatrae), the †Ngandong Tiger (Uncia tigris soloensis), the †Javan Tiger (Uncia tigris sondaica), the †Trinil Tiger (Uncia tigris trinilensis), and the †Bali Tiger (Uncia tigris balica).

The Lion (Panthera leo) is a big cat native to both Africa and Asia, it is one of the only two surviving species of the genus Panthera, the other being the Leopard (Panthera pardus), it is also known for being the second largest cat species in the world alive today, there are twelve recognized subspecies of lion, only seven of which are alive today, the most basal of the twelve lion subspecies is the †European Lion (Panthera leo fossilis), then followed by the split between two clades, the Panthera leo persica group or asiatic lions with two recognized subspecies being the Indian Lion (Panthera leo persica) and the †Ceylonese Lion (Panthera leo sinhaleyus) and the Panthera leo leo group or african lions, with nine recognized subspecies being the †Egyptian Lion (Panthera leo aegyptiaca), the †Barbary Lion (Panthera leo leo), the West African Lion (Panthera leo senegalensis), the Congo Lion (Panthera leo azandica), the East African Lion (Panthera leo nubica), the Ethiopian Lion (Panthera leo roosevelti), the Katanga Lion (Panthera leo bleyenberghi), the Transvaal Lion (Panthera leo krugeri), and the †Cape Lion (Panthera leo melanochaita).

The tiger is the best. Lions are powerfull while their mane can protect them but tigers are very capable too and they are not afraid of them. A tiger is not an animal a lion would want to face.
