Masterful swing!!!!! I have modeled my own swing after his and have worked diligently to replicate everything he does. I agree with you. One of the strength of Tiger is distance control. He tries every club inside the 120 yrd and you can see him hitting the same target with a wedge, then with a 7, then with a 4 etc and he does that by controlling his swing. This is what he does on the range. He checks his swing speed. I clearly saw it at the Masters live and several times here in Dubai. One time I had a chat with Steve Williams and he said Tiger cares a lot about distance control, way more than direction.

I think the fact that his wrist doesn't release is why he gets so much power. there's nearly zero drop off from the start of his swing on drives to the very end.

I agree with Paul. I personally witnessed Tiger saying that he normally hits his driver 75% and he could go to 90% without big troubles, but probably missing few more fairways. All top PGA and European can kill a driver to 370 but they cannot control it that well. Tiger also mentioned that in the Champion and Nationwide tour, it`s quite usual to see longer drives than the PGA (in average) but then in PGA they need to hit fairways more often, hence slow down a bit. tiger always places the next ball at the very back edge of the last divot... which saves grass. that divot you see is not one divot, but more than 10... he's slowly moving backwards

I actually think some clubs on the market are quite close to Tour clubs. Blades like Mizuno MP, Titleist CB. They obviously have them customised with proper lie and shafts, but the face itself and the construction of them are the same. There are so many scratch players that would find the difference between a B class and an A class club. Just guessing...

yeah at ranges if im hiitting it looks like its going 200 if its going 150 and when ur beside be it looks like its going 100 and its going 150 or so the angle can make it seem further or shorter

I'm with Canucks as well and more particularly for the younger guys, we all try to bust it when we're young but its just not possible at that age. Worry about hitting it straight and being balanced throughout the distance will come. What you should work on relentlessly is the short game thats the difference between the good and the great at every level. Ask anyone who's played alot and they've seen tonnes of guys who can boom it but very few who can get up and down from anywhere.

I have to agree with Canucks guys. I am a donkey 10 handicapper and downhill, downwind, bouncing on a stone, with a hard ball I can reach 300:)) but then I have to stick a wedge within 10 feet to consider myself good... on one hole... Distance means nothing. See Mike Weir... short of the tee, awesome iron shots and great short game. At the end of the day you win tournaments on the green, don't you?? Get ready guys, I am preparing my video of the Valhalla Ryder Cup...

I idea about golf is having a swing that you can hit a mile while still controlling the ball flight. I personally can hit a ball 280 yards on a fly, but if I cannot control my swing. I can hit 265 yards with 100% accuracy improvement, I personally rather do that instead.

Im going have to disagree. Hitting 300 yards off the tee instead of 250 means that you will have an approach shot 50 yards closer which means a lot. But even with that, you have to place the ball where you need to, and can't make any forced errors to be a good golfer

i know people like to idolise tiger. But the suggestion that he would break a normal top notch nike (or any other brand) club is silly. But He would need a different shaft sure. Lets not forget, not too long ago he was averaging 300 yards off his driver...something i can do. The longest drive is summit like 515 yards.Not by a tour player. Just someone using a normal club (actually i think i was a nike if memory serves).

I agree! I swing 112mph and can hit it 300 yards... but my consistancy is TERRIBLE! LOL! I'm forced to hit my 4 wood off the tee to 225-250 just so I can stay out of the woods. Doesn't matter how far you hit it!!! A short straigh shot will beat a long hook or slice any day of the week!

You're missing the point cashizz, everyone knows the way courses are going length is essential but that comes with technique its not about murdering it. Re Faldo being the only world number 1 who wasn't long, u need to go back to school, Seve, Langher, Woosnam, Nick Price, Tom Lehman have all been world number 1's. You might also wanna check the PGA stats and see what section Tiger is also number 1 on, it aint driving, its scrambling! Keep hitting it long and in the bushes, Good Luck with that!

He could probably get it around 180 by delofting it, but 200 is quite a stretch he would just have to hit a perfectly delofted wedge or something lol. Like ph00ny said 150 wedge isn't uncommon or impressive, but to hit it straight every time is(which i doubt you do) , and 275 isn't long ph00ny but the most accurate players on tour hit it around 280. So you can be very competitive hitting it 275 as long as it's always in the fairway, and you have a strong short game.

That would explain the current problem of bones-on-bones that he is experiencing now along with the perpetual pain symptoms that will forever remain with him according to the latest conclusions from a lot of the Orthopaedics surgeons. Even if he's hitting 280 yard 3 wood tee shots, he still has the length to support the longer second shot. Also way he's been driving in the last few tournaments, do you blame him for using 3 wood off the tee?

yay let's swing our e-peens 1. 150 yard 9 iron shots are pretty common 2. Matty is right and west's swing is bit quick on the tempo etc 3. 275 isn't that far and courses that tour pros are playing are way too long without distance
