I miss the prime Tiger years. Those were the golden years of golf. Don’t get me wrong, we got tons of superstar players but prime Tiger was a whole new animal. He put golf on the map and you’d spend all day watching him play. I’m truly thankful to have grown up during those times.

You obviously didn’t see players of the past and are very young. Bobby Jones had 2 ticker tape parades in NY city and the country went wild over all his accomplishments. And Bobby was only one there was a lot Byron Jack Francis Arnold Ben and several more. He was a good addition to the list that is for sure.

@@hankprusak4946 Sorry but none of those men had an impact on the game of golf the way Tiger did. Tiger took the league by storm and it made people watch golf exclusively for four days straight rather than football. Thats how great he was!

@@hankprusak4946 they were alright.. non compared to woods n Jack even knows tiger is better than he ever was.. it's the race he was dealt with.. n his infidelity made it worse for tiger but it gave you guys bullets.. name me one junior, amateur n professional better than tiger.. none.. enough said

I was a senior in high school and remember following Tiger for 9 holes here. His swing speed and the sound his driver made were so different than everyone else.

I had just graduated HS in ‘96, and watched this tournament from my dorm. I saw Tiger play at the Memorial Tournament in ‘98 and, yes, the sound his driver made was unlike anyone else’s. It’s like hearing the sound of Mike Tyson’s punches in the 80’s vs everyone else.

Tiger carried his 3 wood 315 yards! I have that same club. It's a Titleist PT with a steel x100 shaft. Not 1 player on tour today can carry that club 315. Tiger's ss was in the 130s here.

Tiger turned pro at the very end of the’96 season. I thought this was risky because he had less than 2 months to earn his tour card. If he didn’t he’d have to deal with a pressure packed, media frenzied Q-School. Tiger immediately won 2 events and earned a spot in the Tour Championship! So thrilling to follow his career.

Wins the Masters by several strokes and then completely changes his swing and body numerous times throughout his career. I understand wanting to get better but sometimes I wonder what would happen if they just stayed with the swing that got you to that point. Same with Rory, hasn't won a major in 10 years after changing his physique.

To be fair, the swing changes he worked on between 1997 and 2000 are what made him unstoppable in thr early 2000s when he won the slam...he never should have gotten so jacked tho and he never should have changed his swing after that tho...

The final hole was classic Tiger “match play.” He hit 3W purposely short of Davis’ driver. He wanted to hit his 2nd shot first to put pressure on Davis to get inside his shot. Davis goes into the bunker and loses.

This kid was on the Carson show 16 years earlier, from that point on he was watched but no one knew what was coming, Earl did :)

The only time you'll see Tiger in non red shirt on a Sunday in history. 2000-2010 was an insane stretch for Tiger. I think he smokes everyone from the Nicklaus era...any era. Prime for prime I take Tiger against anyone in history. It's not even close. No one as cold blooded as 2000-2010 Tiger was.

His first PGA tour win was in Milwaukie right? How do I know? I went to the Oakwood tourney the week before. It used to be the John Deere. Cause I remember thinking that I wanted to see his first win. But Ed Fiori won. Then he won the very next week. It wasn't this tournament.
