Compare the players in 1997 vs 2019. I have to say in 1997 there were plenty of out of shape 30+ year old guys. In 2019 the top players were trim, athletic and they looked like they hit the gym every day. Don't tell me that isn't Tiger's influence.

Tiger made it look easy here, but I love how he eventually became a grinder who didn't just rely on his talent but used his mind to will himself to major victories. I remember thinking once he got his game together and not just relying on his raw talent, he would dominate and that's just what he did starting with the 1999 PGA Championship, going onto win 7 out of 11 majors, including the Tiger Slam. Everyone thinks of '97 as when Tiger arrived, but to me this just showed how much talent he had. The '99 PGA is when he showed what it takes to be a consistent major champion.

This was the tournament that the game of golf changed forever. While there’s always been great players, there wasn’t much of an impact on the game as there was when Tiger showed up. He inspired millions of kids to pick up golf clubs and that’s why today we have so many physically sharp-minded athletic players who are so skilled at the game due to Tiger’s influence. The fact he shot a 40 on the front nine and then played the last 61 holes at -22 under par is a testament to his greatness.

Whats amazing to me is that his expressions looks almost identical to his 2019 win. Both wins obviously means alot to him!

What a great sportsman...just watched Tiger winning his 5th Masters yesterday, April 14, 2019 Live in TV from Winnipeg, Canada and wanted to take a glimpse of his record breaking 1997 Masters tournament. What an unbelievable comeback in the history of sports. Thanks for uploading this video for future generations to enrich some history of the tournament.

jerry pate covering the 14th. one of the most beautiful swings in golf history. sadly his career derailed by a shoulder injury that took forever to properly diagnose. should have won a couple more majors.

The hyperbole around Tiger was already at a fever pitch, and this was only his first major. Amazing he kept this up for so long, as many others have come and gone - winning one or two their first couple of seasons only to fade soon after.

There will never be another golfer like Tiger Woods. I remember watching this in 1997. It was one of the most historic moments in sports and so captivating, even though he was so far ahead of everyone that the conclusion was pretty much already set by the time he teed off. You just knew you were watching a once in a lifetime moment. No golfer will ever have the hype, the aura, the success, or the "it" factor that Tiger Woods had.
