The first rated R movie I watched in theaters was Harold & Kumar, with my korean mother, who barely spoke english. I remember seeing the trailers for the movie back when I was in middle school and being super excited to see a korean actor on the big screen. When my friend and I got to the movie theater, we were heartbroken because we were under age. Frantically I ran out to the parking lot and begged my mother to watch with us. She was easily convinced after I told her the lead actor in the movie was a korean man. Thank you John Cho for the hilarious movie and the awkward conversations I later had to have with my mother about animal seamen. And thank you to Tigerbelly and the Slept King for this episode!

Shout out to Mr John Cho. He was my high school english teacher. We would ditch as soon as we got to school, but we would all come back to school for Mr Cho’s class. I like watching this podcast to see Bobby grow as a person. His insecurities still shine through like a damn sun through an open window, but it’s how he acknowledges those insecurities that have resonated with me. That, in turn, has also helped me acknowledge some of my insecurities. So thanks, Bobo. I appreciate it.

Honestly expressing yourself...it is very difficult to do. I mean it is easy for me to put on a show and be cocky and be flooded with a cocky feeling and then feel like pretty cool...or I can make all kind of phony things, you see what I mean, blinded by it or I can show you some really fancy movement. But to express oneself honestly, not lying to oneself...now that, my friend, is very hard to do. Bruce Lee

This is probably my favorite episode. @JonahNelson7
@JonahNelson7 2 жыл бұрын
@@Bonsoirmonamie the US is comparable in terms of Asian proportion, the people who never saw an Asian person who actually grew up in the US probably just don't live in a major city, which seems to be a higher proportion because of all the habitable space. As far as I understand it more Canadians live in more concentrated areas. I myself grew up in a small town and only knew of three half Asian people until I was 18, that was it. It didn't affect how I saw Asian people, but it does for quite a few people who grow up in small towns, such that their conception of them is based fully on media

Cho's conviction about accents was so deep and moving. So admirable. 2 years since this interview and a year post their breakup... i once saw John Cho at a bar in Ktown back in 2008 or 2009 during college. it must've been after they wrapped the first Star Trek but before the general public knew about it. This blows my mind.

Wow, loved this ep! I really got to know John Cho, of course I know his movies, but not the person behind it. He’s like a yoda, with his perspectives on life, and his intelligence. So enjoyed listening to him, and what he has to say. Bobby and John together is so good. V different characters , but hilarious chemistry. Def bring him back. I’m going to read his children’s book , when it comes out. Sounds really cool.

Already canceled. Opinions about the show aside, Netflix is notorious for bailing on projects after 1 or 2 seasons. It's almost not worth getting invested in anything they make unless it's already been seen through to the end.
