what are the positives and negatives behind a fixed vs non fixed? Or Is it just personal opinions? I understand a non fixed could allow more breakage. Didn’t know if there is more to it though?

Hey you are right the biggest advantage for fixed is less breakage which makes the whole operation more efficient. Disadvantage being it is not as easy to shovel and has a shorter reach so you need to move alot more often. Non fixed is more versatile so if breakage is not an issue and you are limited to machines may be a better option. In our case we needed fixed as part of the contract but it has proved very valuable in making the job more efficient and spread the work load better among all machines.

How's that fixed head get on with big wood not being able to double cut
@itpv_production73584 жыл бұрын
horus 215 I have seen him cut 91cm from one side with reasonable control. Not many in our blocks that he hasn’t been able to handle but it does have limits. You have to plan for them either walk around and front cut or get harvester to cut or manual cut(both which we haven’t had to do yet) . As I say tho it hasn’t been an issue for us as yet. It is quite strong with a good operator. The operator in this video only drove it for an hour before I videoed him and the regular operator is now much more experienced.

I dont get why he keeps holding it, line it up and let it go or is that the way the head set up

JEEP LOGGER NZ he is letting the relief drag the fixed head down to control the fall so the head does not break. He did mess one up as the tree was to small to drag the relief and it snapped but he has only driven the machine for an hour so was just testing the relief out.
