That 635 sure can pull. They were a couple of huge drags. Back when I was in the bush we'd cable choke a drag a third of that and think we were gods. Nothing wrong with an oil bath, keeps the skin nice and soft lol.

love the sound of that big old Cummins bellaring away when the 635 has a big drag on, still totally impressed with the amount of wood that thing moves! Sucks to be Derrick getting an oil bath, but somebody's gotta stand in the line of fire once in a while hahaha. I hope the mills can keep on operating, more than enough guys been taking a hurting in your industry in the last several years!

On pulling straight hoses, on directional drilling rigs, we used to use a coupling that connected old hose to new. I know sometimes you need the old one to compare, but it's awesome when u know

I know this is an older vid. But a tip for pulling lines like that in tough spots is to have plugs that fit in the end of the hose that the rope hooks to and pulls straight from the end of the hose. It can help keep it from catching on stuff too. That 635 is a stud

Back in the late 80's I was working for a fertilizer dealer while I was in high school clearing some bushes from around the buildings with an old Bobcat that had been used to load fertilizer for years. I was pushing it pretty hard when one of the metal lines that ran across just above my feet blew a rust spot out. It sprayed me from my crotch to above my head with hot high pressure hydraulic oil. Damn lucky I had on my glasses at the time. I was drenched in it.

Hey Tim as a mechanic that rope becomes ya best friend. I had nuts welded to my caps and plugs. I tapered the to aid in pulling the hoses through the maze. Ha ha oil bath had 1 or 2 of those.

I have had my fair share of hyd oil baths. Some with blown lines and some well changing lines. The worse one was on the skid steer and blew a tilt line and covered me from head to toe, lucky enough i was close to home so I pulled the line off came home and showered and changed and got a new line made up and back to work.

Hi Thanks for posting, That 635 is like some tractors I get to drive, you don't need a radio to listen to in the cab. Just open the window pour the coal to it and listen to her bark while it's working hard. That string for pulling lines through works real good. I did a replacement 3/8 hose that was 30 ft long and ran down inside a steel backbone pipe on the back of a header on a customers swather, when the original steel hydraulic line rusted out. The guy didn't know how to do it and I earned $70 for knowing how to use a piece of string, that was an easy money job L.O.L. Whats the deals with the mills, economy and no markets or just like fuel plants that time of year to shut down for maintenance?.

Parker changes something on everything they do for me. I only go there if I absolutely can't get it anywhere else, though. I'd need a few more bankers if I bought all hoses and accessories there. Plus there's several counter guys at the Montgomery store that are as pleasant to deal with as a mama rattler. The guys in the shop are great, though. Even though they never have what I need, they'll find something that will work.

I had a hose bout 2 inches round blow at top and soaked my back and rear ran down all in my boots it was on a ol C.6 tree farmer it was a ol skidder and cover plate was off behind the seat..we were bout 75 miles from home I was soaked all day.I think it may have cooked me to the bone but it was on very first pull that morning. If it would have been two or three hours in that day I'm sure it would have cook me to the Bone. Thank God it didn't

doing a wheelie with it has to be the reason its breaking drive shaft yokes. better keep that spare repaired drive shaft around and some spare yokes for both ends... less down time if you have the weak links in stock.

With these mills shutting down is that because they cannot sell/move enough product or are they being oversupplied? Geez I hope you have some shares in your oil supplier the amount you use with burst pipes and such like!! Any oil here in the UK is mighty expensive even in 205litre drums -perhaps you buy it in bulk when I guess its a bit cheaper?

We buy hydraulic oil in 208 liter drums here or 55 gallons. Our motor comes in on a truck and is pumped into a bulk oil tank that holds 280 gallons or 1059 liters.

That 635 couldn't pull your pecker hard enough to be noticed, just kidding just kidding it pulls like a demon no dought but the dang thing is just so freakin big, for out west where I'm at where space can be limited at times it's size can be a major negitive, and having only a grapple (albeit the 635 does have winches) and no winches, or ones that are made for main drag pulling for steep slope work no good at all, doesn't matter how hard you can pull if there ain't no traction to be had so having big winches so you can plant yourself and let the winch do the grunt work is a good way to get it done in the really steep places or slime muck where there is no traction to be had or ya might sink it to the belly. Funny little soaked in oil story for ya, some years back a buddy of mine and I were in the shop doing some winter equiptment fixing, he kept a rather messy shop and a part we needed was on a back shelf behind this pile of crap and that pile of crap, so I started climbing my way into what was needed and lifted it off of the shelf, went to spin around to come back out and started to lose my ballance and in doing so and trying to keep from falling and catch my ballance put my one foot right down smack dab into a full to the brim 5 gallon bucket of old used motor oil, which of course made it overflow onto the already kinda slippery cement floor making my other foot slip and me come crashing down like a house of cards in an F5 tornado, old dirty oil ALL over me and everything within 20 feet, the really bad part is I was wearing a BRAND new $600 pair of Whites boots, and a brand new pair of Carhartts, I was freakin PISSED, if this friend of mine hadn't been such a good friend for 30+ years by then I'd probably be in jail right now and him the graveyard because I could have killed him LOL.

In the 2 states that we work in, you only have to report it if it's over a 25 gallon spill. Situations just like this in this video just calls for us to mitigate anything that ends up on the ground.
