This is some footage from a while back. I went from fire season to first snow in a week! This was a contract cutting piece for another contractor on the 2000 line off the USP mainline out of Lyons, Oregon. Nice wood, decent ground and a good crew of guys to work around. I've used a few tricks that I talk about some that help me get production. Sorry about the sound quality, I've got some glitch going on with the GoPro. Hope you find it interesting, thanks for watching.

Oh man that's funny! One of my bosses asked me about that a while ago, he said, doesn't that sound drive you crazy? I'm like, what sound? I guess I just tune it out, I really notice it when I watch the videos after my wife puts them together! Thanks for watching and the comment, glad you like them. Where are you cutting at? LX870? Where ever it is, good cuttin to ya! Be safe.

@@merritwalters5236 Hey right on. Sorry it's taken me a bit to get back to you, been a busy week so far. Are you thinning mostly? Seems like that is a common prescription in that part of the world. You probably have a lot of Fire duty too I'm thinking? Thanks for the reply.

@@merritwalters5236 I'll bet! Some of those old growth redwood stumps are huge! Are you on Sierra Pacific ground at all? I'm cutting on Weyco ground near Mt St Hellens, there are some pretty impressive old growth stumps in this unit too. Have a good good week, good cuttin to ya!

Right on! I'm the same way, my wife will ask me, do you think this video's too long? I'm like, no way, there's some really good cutting coming up! We've got a logging problem I'm thinking? Glad you like them. I got a bunch of footage on the unit I'm working right now. It's a nice one, good wood, easy ground pretty much, only thing is it's at 2200 ft so its going to be seriously white there when I roll in tomorrow morning at o'dark thirty. That's the way it goes though, right? Have a safe week!

Howdy Jason, another great informative video. I particularly like the "stump makin hobo" comment.. when people are asking what I do I tell 'em I am producing stumps ! The cutting line tags suggest you might be on Rainier ground ? Have a great week.

Hey Steve, sorry it's been a bit getting back to you, busy week so far. Yup, stumps are what we do right? How did that roadside wood go for you a while back? That was Weyco Snow Peak ground I was on in that video. Not much Rainier ground down this way that I'm aware of. Have a good week!

@@thedailylogger yes that roadside piece went really well. Better than I expected actually, the snags stayed intact at least until they were away from the road ! Thanks for the reply. Take care out there !

It was the 2000, takes off right there at the 10 and a half? Glad we weren't any farther up, Rice was in on the 5000 and they got 14 inches or so. But yeah, I'm a stump making hobo, got to go where the trees are, right? I've set up camp in Kelso, Wa, settling in for the long haul there I'm thinking. Working a unit right now up Spirit Lake Hwy, at 2200 ft and about 12 miles from the St Helens Crater. Got quite a bit of footage last week so it will be coming your way! Good to hear from you, thanks for the comment!

What can I cutting do you guys do is a process of going the woods and then a four water or skater comes in
@thedailylogger
@thedailylogger Жыл бұрын
Not quite tracking you too well on your question but I'm thinking you're asking about how we log a unit. The video you're asking about I was cutting for a shovel to swing it to the roadside landings treelength. Then at the landing it would be processed primarily as long logs and then loaded on trucks to haul it to the mills. I see in your picture it looks like a forwarder either unloading or maybe loading a truck. Whereabouts in the workplace are you working at? Thanks for the question, hope I answered it, be safe!
