Never quite understood BF4 being set in a near future setting (at the time of release) and you get the M4 instead of the M4A1😅 it was also IIRC the first mainline game that didn't start you out with a standard issue weapon for each factions. One thing that pissed me off is when you reload the xm177 (M4) in Cold War, your character uses the charging handle and not the bolt release. Plus, the bolt release hole to actually Yknow, release the bolt, is covered by the sling fabric from the sling around the rifle.

Suppressors don’t make your gun dead silent, and if you are using supersonic ammo, which all military ammo, except for special purposes, is, it will be louder. Look at a video of someone shooting an AR-15 suppressed with supersonic .223/5.56.

The M4 is single and burst only, the M4A1 is single and full-auto with an added heavy barrel, something the M4 lacks.
