YES, DONK BET. Especially early at the table, you'll quickly discover the TAG versus nit as well as the "aspiring pro".

super system says you would want them to have a good hand so they can call you or re-raise you, bonus points if you have suited connectors making a straight flush!
@percyblok60143 жыл бұрын
This is actually a good strategy. If table is tight, just go into "video poker" mode and play for straight flushes. Gotta know pot odds and implied odds and have a long haul, EV build/expectations outlook, but it will work. Small suited connectors on table in EARLY position is pure gold when it hits, but gotta be able to get away from hand if flop hits high and pot is large, discipline. DONK betting to build if you get a piece on flop and even 4 bet here will jam them hard and can get you to the river for max value, especially if TAG is tilt prone. Old Man Coffee TAG less likely to.put money in, but will voice displeasure which is a payoff in and of itself.

I was thinking: what if you switched over to playing small cards against TAGS? Wouldn't this be a good a better strategy since most tags are likely only playing face cards, top pairs. If the board flops low you'll have a better chance of hitting two pair, a straight, a full-house and the TAG will likely do a continuation bet with the over-cards.
@gripsed8 жыл бұрын
+john smith The problem with this is that you don't make two pair anywhere near as often as many people think. And even when you hit, TAGs don't give you the implied odds you need to get paid in full. My Cash game book goes very in depth into this - www.gripsed.com/store/cash You can get my Book + Other softwares for free here - www.gripsed.com/free

So you pay tight with weak cards. I fold like 9 out of 10 times. Then you get predictable. Then they see you play strong. Is it the lucky cards ? I like to bear trap. I bluff when I can afford to lose. Poker is not what you hold. Its what they think you hold.

I'm Tag and your psychology is a bit off. TAG is probably least likely to tilt. We are patient, we understand odds and probability and can easily accept bad beats, etc. The only way we might show tilt is if we get bored of folding lol

I feel like the vast majority of players in the 5$NL pool on PokerStars are TAGs. It's making my jump from 2$NL quite frustrating. Kind of hurts to see that they should be avoided. I appreciate the content though.

Hm, it is difficult to pratice playing against good TAGs, because in all the micro and small stakes games, there are none of them. I play a strict LAG approach and I have yet to face more than 4 or 5 decent TAGs somewhere at any small online game. The only guys (and there are tons of them) with TAGish stats are pure ABC-players with no imagination, hand reading skills and even less balls. I have begun to search for tables with those guys, since I find it so easy to play against them, since as soon as you have read one standart poker book, you know what a bad TAG will do in every situation. But to my question: Where (at which limit) start the better TAGs to show up? Because I think I should be aware not to move up and get crushed by real TAGs
@johnsmith-bx3qd9 жыл бұрын
+Michel Smiffi I don't know about online - but $100NL you will start to see more TAGS. There are also some that slip into the 40NL or 60NL games just to make money on weaker opponents.

"They are solid" yeah you're forgetting that 99% of all players are losers. There are bad TAGs in every poker room.
