THANK YOU for watching and sharing our adventures.👍
We are Kate and Jordan. We focus on the beauty of what we are experiencing (the ocean, the islands, the nature), our challenges and some of our day-to-day but not too much. We are exploring the world's oceans on our sailboat. We are slipping away from the everyday world and off on the blue sea to experience and see the world from the water!
Our boat is a Shannon 50 Ketch (57 feet from tip of bowsprit to stern). We bought her in 1999, completely redid her - new mast, new electrical, new plumbing, new engine, new sails and we sailed around the Pacific for six years. Then, in 2019, we started a second major refit. New standing rigging, pulled our masts and repainted them, new electronics, new batteries (lithium) and charging system, new radar (AIS), new solar panels, new refrigeration/freezer system with a rebuilt box with new high-tech insulation, new sails, new generator, rebuilds on our autopilot and water maker. Then we bought a new rib, new outboard and mountains of spare parts. NOW - we are out here living the dream.

Great video girlie. You’re looking fab. Did you give yourself a haircut. What happened to the dingy? Did you loose it? I think I missed a video over our travels to Bahamas

@@letmetellyousomething2113 the dingy went on a walk-about. We did get it back with help from a nearby boat. Cut my hair - shorter is faster to dry but can still scrape into a tail. 😘

What was your depths and bottom construct at that tight anchorage? Scope? And does everyone try to keep similar scopes?

Everything is dependent on multiple factors. This anchorage has a relatively small shelf of 33 feet depth but it is scrub coral which can suck for holding. All around us is 60 to 70 feet so we dont want to drag off into deep water. Occasionaly we swing out over the deeper water. This area can fit 3 boats most of the time. BUT we are experiencing high winds - getting gusts of 20 to 30 knots so instead 4 to 1 or 5 to 1 chain ratio - we have more like 5.5 to 1 chain out. In addition - the current here is a big factor spinning us around potentially popping the anchor out which is why we put out a lot of chain. Sometimes people ask how much chain we have out but mostly not which is weird. We try to tell them but many of them are French so we have communication challenges. All part of the life!

@@SailingQueenJane Thank you for the great detailed answer. Sounds like the LaPaz Waltz with more depth and a sprinkling of coral thrown in! I’m preparing to make the jump to FP next March-April so I want to be sure my ground tackle is ready for just the challenges you so we’ll just described👍👍⛵⛵Enjoying tour videos!
