His build kinda sucks tbh. A 2200g bottlenecks a Rx 570(proof on Joey Delgado's 400 dollar build) so of course it's going to hold the 1660 super back at like 50% usage. What's the point of getting a good gPU if it can't even run at full power, when you could get a much more balanced build, with better components, and a worse graphics card that actually runs at 100%, which is still better than a hard bottlenecked 1660 super.

@@miniweeddeerz1820 So when you upgrade down the line you dont have to worry about getting a new gpu. Just my thinking though
@miniweeddeerz1820
@miniweeddeerz1820 4 жыл бұрын
@@AeroVids1 well that's also stupid. If you feel like you need to upgrade it's because the pc is bad. Which it is. And then you are just spending more money than you want to because the original build sucks. That GPU will last 3 years with a good cpu. if you need to upgrade sooner it just shows how trash the build has been. A 1660 super should not show its face till 650 dollars around. If lets say you do hold out the three years on a trash CPU at low usage, by the time you get a better CPU the GPU will get outdated anyway. So you'll have three years of trash performance then need to buy a new CPU and GPU that actually fit together.

You could use either a single 1660 or dual, mabey even tripple rx 470 in crossfire if your willing to get the ram that’s just the pcb and have a little less storage. It’s a wayyy better value.

I would have probably saved on the gpu getting something like an rx590 and getting a ryzen 5 1600 witch is currently on Amazon for 99 USD, because I see no point getting 1660 super if you are going to get heavily bottleneck in AAA games and performance might even be worst than the Rx 590 due to the bottleneck. Also you might be able to stream lighter games witch is basically imposible with a 4c 4t CPU. Now in terms of the storage, I would have personally picked a 500gb SSD, witch you can currently find for 50 USD, and if you need more storage down the line you could just add a 1tb HDD, or expand your budget a little and get the 1tb hhd straight away. Now with the rx590 a ryzen 5 1600 and a 500gb SSD using the same components as Kyle the total would be 545 USD, and I personally think is a more balanced build

Hey Kyle, I’m a huge fan of your channel. When I first got into technology and computers specifically, you and Linus were my go to channels. I’ve always wanted to get into PC building and the like. I’m currently a senior in high school (I plan to go to college to become a special needs teacher). I do a tad bit of photo editing and am a console gamer atm. I currently only have my high school loner computer, which is a 2013 MacBook air. As you can imagine, running photoshop is an absolute struggle on there, and you can just throw any pc gaming on there out the window. I’ve been saving money for a while now (I’m a busboy at a restaurant). I want to build my own system, but my parents won’t allow me to. They’re quite old fashioned and for some reason think pc building is only possible for people who work at tech companies and the like. I was wondering if I could give you my money to have you part out and build a computer for me and my family? We actually have a desktop, but you’d most likely laugh at the specs (bought in 2001 and can’t even open internet explorer). I want to get a desktop that my parents can use for their day to day work and that I can use for homework, light photo editing, and gaming. I have a budget of $650. Please reach out to me if you’re interested. Thank you, Aaron

I purchased that first case when building a friends christmas present, their SSD sits in the optical drive bay because there just isn't room for 2 storage drives and the graphics card. This is about what I spent on my cousin's PC, but I bit a couple bullets you didn't got a nicer board, went with an NVME 3.0x4 SSD and a 2tb hard drive, an aftermarket cooler (freezer 34), a ryzen 5 1600, higher wattage corsair modular power supply, and a bit of a nicer case, all of this of course came at the cost of the GPU which ended up being an RX 580. I wasn't looking at optimal price to gaming performance even in a build this tight but at upgrade path, 16gb of RAM is great and he shouldn't need to upgrade in the near future, same with the 1600, I've found 2tb of storage to be enough for me who uses my PC constantly while 1tb would leave me a bit shy of what I currently have installed, and the 550w PSU should leave him enough room to upgrade the GPU to basically anything north of the RX 580 except maybe a vega 64, but 1080(Ti), 1070, vega 56, rx 5700(XT) RTX 20XX(super or Ti) should all fit fine with that PSU, I know the kid isn't gonna upgrade to a 2080 ti, but a vega 56/1070/1660 would not be out of the question, maybe even a 1080.

Why is it that EVERY build video I come across never includes the operating system 99% of the time? Depending on what you use as an OS - especially if you decide to go with Windows 10 now that Win7 home/pro support is ending, it WILL add an extra $100 to $150 to the total price of the whole build. I know it's already a given for people who regularly build their own rigs, but first time builders almost always don't factor in the cost of the OS in the budget. That said, the actual budget for a build in the video is roughly $650 to $700 once you factor in the OS of your choice.

Well people usually download the Windows 10 from Media Creation Tool for free and buy the key from eBay for $10-$50..
@obsidiansands
@obsidiansands 5 жыл бұрын
@@ardianp6570 I rarely trust buying keys from eBay due to the fact some possible keys could either be stolen or unofficially generated. It happened once when I had a customer that provided me an eBay key with his burned Windows 10 PRO ISO when I was building him a video-editing rig and it didn't accept it because someone had already used the key as well on ANOTHER system as the key generated had a "shelf life" as we both found out that he was advised to use the key he bought within 2 days. He still ended up having to shell out over $100 USD from an official seller like Fry's that was a few blocks right across the freeway when I used to live in LA. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE eBay when it comes to hardware deals - but it's my own personal rule of thumb to not use it to purchase software keys - I tell that to anyone I build rigs for, that's why I always include the price of the software on my quotes. eBay may be cheaper for keys - but there's also a risk factor involved when it comes to buying them because you'll never know if you got scammed. I know there are "some" places that also sell keys online NOT directly tied to Microsoft, but sometimes it's better to be safe than sorry to actually get the software/usb fresh from an official source with a key generated for it. That said, I do understand the frustration one can have with Microsoft for their absurdly highway robbery prices.

When its called a "BUDGET" it doesn't meen the person can spend $5+ more on their build. That's like telling a person that has $550 in there hand to just spend $5 more on a better GPU. A few great steps I would take on this build to make it just that much better are just some simple changes. For one, I would keep an eye out for sales on 2060 cards, because sometimes, if you are _really_ lucky you can find them at 1660S price, or if you are comfortable with using platforms like Ebay, look into used prices for something like a 1070/1080 card. Just maybe it might be worth looking for a steal there. A huge step I would also take is looking for a Ryzen 5 1600AF, which typically are priced at about $85, and for that you get essentially a Ryzen 5 2600 with a different name, plus the 6C/12T that will most definitely be a large upgrade from the 2200G chosen here. Lastly, if you already have semi-decent/fast storage from an old pc, feel free to wipe those drives and put them in this build, that way you can put the extra $30-$60 into a gpu or motherboard upgrade, or maybe a bit more flexibility on power supply shopping. But these are just my thoughts, so do what fits your ideal computer. And, most importantly right now, pc parts will be in and out of stock or super overpriced right now so just be patient and keep your eye open.

@@MoahGentle single level cell. versus MLC(multi level cell ie 2 bits per cell), TLC(Triple ie 3 bits) and QLC(quad or 4 bits). SLC tech is older but has a much higher number of write cycles before the nand flash runs out. More bits per cell means fewer write cycles. An example of how bad it's gotten is my 2TB Intel 660p. It uses QLC nand and has a write endurance of 400 TB(so around 200 full drive writes). Older SSDs with simpler design(TLC,MLC,SLC) may have thousands or even tens of thousands of write cycles.The chances of me actually wearing out my drive before buying a newer, higher capacity, relatively cheaper drive is remote given my use case(and the way most people will use the drive). In my case, most of my game libraries will be stored on a few higher capacity HDDs but larger ones that can benefit from higher access speeds due in large part to bigger file sizes(say 100GB+) will be swapped into and out of the SSD as needed. Of course Windows 10 should be on the SSD as well, in addition to any frequently used programs like web browsers.

I got a boxed system (Alienware) 7 years ago thanks to work paying for it. Might be time for me to start looking at upgrading the pieces or the whole thing. Where should I start?

My dad runs a flight school and I'm in the process of upgrading the pc he uses for a sim and I've already built nearly this exact system (except the cpu is the 3200g) the motherboard, ram, and video card are the same. (Edit) the ram is Corsair vengeance lpx 3200 actually.

Yo Bitwit, could you do a 2k "build this" video? I was wondering whether you could make a better pc part list than I am planning to buy. It'll be *my* first pc, that I also intend to build myself.

Should point out most of those lists are just old builds I was considering, but have used it to build about 5 or 6 PCs over the last few years. I wouldn't build a PC without it at this point haha.

I had that DIYPC case, the airflow was god awful. The mesh has a piece of foam I guess was supposed to be a dust filter, but I didn’t let any air through at all. Regular temps in the 80°C area on a 1070 mini from Zotac at stock

I just love how I have a Microcenter nearby and can pay $80 for an Ryzen 5 1600 and then get $30 off the Mobo on these budget builds.

Lucky, the closest one for me is about an hour drive so haven't ventured up there yet. Looks like a PC builders dream store though.
@nate296
@nate296 5 жыл бұрын
Ryan Delafosse An hour is definitely worth the drive, especially if you’re buying a whole new build. Though, I’d have a game plan in that case. Also, the savings scale pretty well. You save $20-30 on the MoBo, and you save a progressively larger amount on the CPU. A lot of the other stuff you’ll end up price matching, but that’s why you need a gameplan.
