"This song was recorded back in fall 2020, during a war followed by a humanitarian crisis in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), which ultimately resulted in the ethnic cleansing of 140,000 Armenians from the region, where, up until 2023, indigenous people had lived for 5,000 years, according to genetic studies. Golshifteh told me once a while ago how this melody was close to her heart and I have decided to document a version of it where we sing together. The lyrics recall a tragic love story, where a parent stands in the way of the union between a loving young couple, eventually resulting in the arranged marriage of the woman with another man" (TigranHamasyan).
