I was in a middle of a pretty bad depression when I discovered Tigran Hamasyan (thanks to my improv teacher) and his music was one of the things that pulled me from a very dark place. I'm so grateful that this music exists and it continues to be my go-to medicine for bad thoughts and one of the pillars of my mental health. Thank you.

The structure of this song is so brilliant. It sounds like (correct me if I'm wrong) the piano starts off playing 21 in 7 bars of three and then the rhythm section comes in playing 3 bars of 7, then the piano picks up to match the rhythm section, and by the end of the song the drums and piano flip. It creates this intensity and chaos at first because the parts only seem to match up occasionally, then there is this harmony when they match each other, and eventually it winds down into chaos as they mix up again. It also gives the feeling that the piece is alive and growing and transforming before our eyes, it's really a genius song.

I just discovered this music and all of Tigran's work last week, a few days before my father passed away. My father used to play the guitar but he wouldn't play it for quite some years while he was battling his cancer. In his last months he was starting to desire to play again and we talked a few times about playing together, although that never happened. The Call Within is starting to mean a lot to me and represents to me a lot of the feelings I have for my experience of witnessing my father's disease and passing away: tremendously complex, difficult to understand but deeply mystical and touching. I'm grateful for this brilliant musical expression, it nurtures my soul to allow such rich music into my life, especially in this difficult moment.

To the old soul, time traveler Tigran, only someone like you with an extreme sensitivity and inner world could make this happen... thanks again... as every note, every gesture, every detail seems to tell the story of the human condition. From the very ancient, to the very modern. That small, cautious step back taken towards the end of the video and the grid reflected on your face brought sudden, inexplicable tears to my eyes. "Magnifique". How I wish I had a drop of Armenian blood in me.... Magnifique

I've always sought to know more about music, and it's been a really fun journey with a really satisfying final (for now) result. One of the downsides though, is that all the wonder can often feel like it's gone from music, like no music is indescribably cool anymore. Tigran brings the wonder back into music. I listen to his stuff, especially this, and half the time, I have no idea what's going on. And I love it. I don't feel the need to analyse it, I just let the notes whizz by at a million miles an hour, and it's exhilarating. So thank you Tigran. Thank you for bringing the wonder back into music.

Used to play and write in 17/8 way back in the 80's Search high cycle on yt if you want to hear it. But this shit right here, this shit is through the damn roof. I bow down and pay homage to the only man in the world who could've penned this marvelous lunacy. God bless and much love from Chicago the murder, blues, and jazz, capital of America. Remember Ronn Dorsey aka Ronntronics one of the greatest unsung song writers you've never heard of.
