This is our first impressions of Tikal in the Petén Basin of Guatemala in Central America in September 2022. This is the Ultimate Travel Guide where we show you how to get here from Flores and all of our costs for this once in a lifetime experience. We also show you what else there is to do in Tikal outside of seeing the ruins.
Description in English and Spanish Below. Subtitles are available in English and Spanish. Descripción en inglés y español a continuación. Los subtítulos están disponibles en Inglés y Español.
We stayed at Hotel Tikal Inn
*******************************************
🇺🇸 - In this Tikal Guatemala Ultimate Travel Guide and Travel Vlog we will be showing you around Tikal National Park. If you enjoy this tour from around Tikal Guatemala then be sure to subscribe to see our upcoming videos from across Guatemala. You should add Tikal Guatemala to your travel wishlist! In this Tikal Petén travel guide and Guatemala vlog we will show you the country of eternal spring. We show you what to do, and things to do in Tikal Guatemala. We hope this video gives you perspective and maybe changes your mind about Guatemala, in which you can decide if Guatemala is safe to visit. Tikal in Guatemala is a must-visit spot if you're making your way to this amazing country. We are now in the heart of the Maya World.
In our last video, we explored Flores is the capital of Petén. Peten is the largest department in Guatemala.
In this video we will climb Templo IV / Temple 4, Templo II / Temple 2. We explore the Central Acropolis. We wander through the Lost World / Mundo Perdido to find the Great Pyramid observation platform. We explain the process of obtaining entrance tickets and journeying from Guatemala City to Flores to Tikal. And this wouldn't be a WITY TRAVELS video if we did not shop in a market! So you know we will be doing that.
In the heart of the jungle, surrounded by lush vegetation, lies one of the major sites of Mayan civilization, inhabited from the 6th century B.C. to the 10th century A.D. The ceremonial centre contains superb temples and palaces, and public squares accessed by means of ramps. Remains of dwellings are scattered throughout the surrounding countryside. Tikal National Park is one of the few World Heritage properties inscribed according to both natural and cultural criteria for its extraordinary biodiversity and archaeological importance.
It was used as a filming location for Yavin 4 in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.

Loved this guys. What a place. We loved your bus journey there with your bob a job driver!! We’ve watched a few videos of this site and really want to visit. The views were stunning but bad times about the sunset scam!!! Your accommodation looked stunning. Wills is sitting here grinning like a Cheshire Cat, A because you saw a Santa and B, he got name checked!!! Thanks for that. The wildlife there is amazing. Such a cool Vlog, loved it 🍻

Bus journeys are really something in Guate. Tikal is amazing. So much to see and such a huge site. Yea, we wanted to stay for sunset but at least they didn't charge us for the guide and we got to stay later than we should have. The hotels in Guate are LEGIT! CHRISTMAS IS STARTING NOW! 🍻

Talk about a climb that was incredible from the top of the monument you can see for miles the green forest affect all the trees in the forest looks amazing what a view from almost the top of the world, I understand now why this was one of the star wars filming locations the view is breathtaking, so I agree with you the climb no joke definitely serious business congrat's on making it that had to be a tuff one but thank god you had the perfect weather to do it that day , seems like your bus driver was doing a little overtime getting all his goodies and chores done on his list I see how that could be funny to watch because everyone knows that all the extra stops were not part of the itinerary unbelievable but like you say what can you do right but laugh it off but eventually you got to your destination so its all good and the turkey in the tree had to be a first for me I never heard of that before so all the animals looked so exotic looking to me they were just running around having fun doing their thing very nice to see and I see some of the attractions steps had handrails which had to be good for support from all the walking and climbing you have done and yes I agree the rain forest that day was looking good from all the wonderful views you had and at least at the hotel you had a nice pool to cool you off in after a very long day perfect so witytravels we appreciate your perseverance an what an adventure from the breathtaking tops of the temples to the beautiful tropical rainforest to the star wars filming locations this has been an absolutely incredible experience from this amazing place called tikal guatemala !!!

Thank you! Yes, the climb was intense but probably safer than climbing up the actual temple. Guatemala is the most green country we have visited. Yea, you knew about Tikal being in Star Wars as soon as we arrived. You are ahead of the curve! It only took an hour and a half to get back. Amazing how much shorter the drive is without all the stops. But we got a free tour around the area! lol.

Tikal is a must visit when in Guate. So cool that you have heard of it. The trek to the top is not easy, but it's worth it. It's almost a nature sanctuary since the animals are roaming free in their natural environment. Thanks Adi!

I think having a guide after sunset is a good idea. It's very easy to get lost at night, plus some nocturnal animals might be wondering around on the trails (like the fer-de-lance viper)

Boy those steps were steep, I can see why they don't want you climbing them. Even if they allowed it I'm not sure I'd want to! 😬. Haha he went to a grocery store and picked up two dozen eggs! Not your average bus ride!! I'm not into Star Wars (sorry) but cool to see a filming location, I can remember seeing loads of Star War spaceships and rides at Disney World in Florida - am I on the right track? Looks like cool stuff. Great that you found that view where could see all the temples sticking up above the treeline - I liked that a lot. C'mon Will, I was expecting a double somersault in the dive 😄. Glad you got your patch, I prefer the one you chose as well - different is good!

Yea, we aren't professional step climbers like you! Definitely not your average bus ride. You are on the right track; they have a whole Star Wars section at Disney. Yea, that view from Temple IV is amazing. Was too tired for any fancy dives. Just fell in. We are happy with finding such a unique patch.

Its a good idea to have a guide specially at night because you can easily get lost, if you don't follow the trail and wonder inside the jungle within 5 meter you wont be able to find the way out unless you know the direction, there's been several cases of people wondering off and getting lost including a German citizen who was found dead, a couple who were found several days later dehydrated, starving and with malaria and only found because military pathfinders were sent to look for them. For some reason some tourist think that its regular park and nothing can't happen to them but just remember you are in real tropical rain forest with all its dangers.

Awesome video, I think Tikal, was a progressist city, but also were in constant wars against other cities, on the side of the mayas, on the other hand was Antigua, the spanish city of the conquistadores, who were also at war, with the rebel cakchickeles and also with nature, then the civil war came, 36 years of civil war, the longest in the continent, peace treaty signed in the 90s, then the war agains the maras began, war that shape up the guatemalans kind of living, being Guatemala in the first century one of the most violent cities in the world. But now, after president Jimmy Morales, Guate has experience a big decline on delincuency and violence. I see people working hard and striving to be better, getting jobs and providing jobs for everyone, I see like a competence to live and have better things, I like this Guate of the last seven years. What can yall tell us about that. What have yall notice. We are not even in the five more violents countries anymore.

Hi guys, couple questions.. we are planning to go to guatemala for 10 days to visit in April. We'll be visiting tikal during that time. We have booked a flight early morning from Guatemala city to Flores. We plan to get there, hope to check-in early and then get transportation to tikal. We are leaving back to guatemala city early the next morning. My question is are there available transportation back to flores at all times or at least up until around 5pm? We fly right back to guatemala city on another early morning flight. It's just a one day trip to flores/tikal since our guatemala itinerary is fully booked to visit Antigua and other places in guatemala. My other question is currency. We plan to pay for most if not all things with a single credit card. How much actual cash do you think we should take? What are some things we would need to have actual cash for or you guys think we should only pay in cash? Our airbnb/basecamp is in an upscale area called cayala so I'm thinking anything there should accept credit cards. Also what's the best place to get or change currency? Thanks for info and love yall videos and channel. Came across it while looking for guatemala videos lol

Hey! Glad to hear our videos are helping you out. As far as details go, it's hard for us to remember it's been almost 6 months since we've been there! But your hotel in Flores/Tikal will definitely have those answers for you about buses and transport. They can probably even arrange that for you! Cayla is very nice! They will definitely take CC and most things in the capital will. We suggest cash for a lot of other things like markets and local places to eat! Enjoy your trip. Hope you can get all your questions answered throughout our videos, we always put prices for things so that can help you create your budget! (:
