Great choice on the caliber, I've been shooting 7mm08 since it came out as a commercial cartridge. You'll do best if you handload for it.

Thanks for the advice. It will be factory ammo to start with, but once i get all my reloading dies then that is exactly what i plan to do.

Beautiful rifle ! I just ordered the exact same one in 7mm-08 . Got it through Buds $954 OTD including taxes and shipping insurance. It was listed for $949 , they do price matching discount, got it for $889 , so $60 off retail price . It’s shipping next week . I hope my stock looks as sweet as yours , that’s some terrific looking wood grain ! What kind of scope / bases and rings are you going with ? I think I’ll get my traditional Leupold … VX Freedom 3-9x40 Hunt Plex reticle and Leupold low bases and rings with flip open covers . I almost went with the .308 Winchester because of the availability of ammunition, but it’s all coming back again, I’m seeing more 7mm-08 on the shelves now , and I just love the cartridge and how it performs from everything I’ve researched about it . Ordered some Hornady 150 grain ELDX for very reasonable price.

I went with warne tikka scope mounts. The work great on my leupold, but i had to send the scope in for work. While bore sighting the top turret popped off. Waiting to get that back this week.

@@NorthwoodsNomad yes they did. This is the second Leopold that I’ve had to send them in the last six months, and I’ve never given me any issues on it and taking care of me quick. Let me know what you think when you shoot your new tikka.

Nice review! What scope mounts did you go with? I just ordered one in .308 and need a pair for a 3-18×50 Optika 6.

Warne 4007476 1" Tikka Permanently Attached - Medium Matte Rings, Black, One Size These are the scope mount i got and they work good. Just make sure that you mount the recoil lug the proper way. I had to watch a video to make sure i did it the proper way.

Can these be top loaded round by round? Or is it strictly by magazine

Model i have you can load 1 round in the top, but to fully load the gun it has to be loaded by removing magazine, loading and then putting back on rifle

@@hiramserna5035 my opinion, it all depends on the person as to what rifle is as good as another. Remington has built in magazines (no idea how good the new remingtons are though), winchester also, i believe some kimbers have built in magazines……. You would just have to shop around. There are so many different models within 1 manufacturer its hard to say exactly which all have built in magazines

How’s that wood stock holding up? I’m trying to decide if the wood is worth the extra money

Really good. I don’t use the rifle when its wet out. I have plenty of others for bad weather use. Overall, i have been very pleased with the while gun! It has gotten a little wet, i just wipe it off and no problems so far.
