I worked for TikTok last year "teaching" the subtitles algorithm to identify words on multiple languages, and I had to listen to these tiktok audios and without the video they look way, way worse than they actually are. It was just a deep realization of how humanity is losing its ability to think and create real meaningful things. It got sooooooooo disturbing it was messing up with my dreams and I had to quit. The kids ones were the absolute worse, I can't imagine how parents are letting young kids, younger than ten years old, using TikTok and thinking it's a good idea to form character, good habits and knowledge. We are doomed.

Snapchat isn't bad though. It's what social media really should be, minus the featured stories they try to show you that are absolutely aids, but easy to avoid anyways. You only add a couple dozen or so of your actual friends you actually talk to and spend time with. Not hundreds or thousands of strangers you've never met. Giving someone your snap is like giving someone your phone number. Except sharing photos and videos is a lot easier and smoother, and you can post things on your "story" for your friends to view without directly sending it to them. Like if you want to show off something cool you just built etc. But it's not really commonly used by anyone other than gen z / millenial. I don't really use any social media right now but that's one I don't really intend to get rid of altogether. Even among my friends who've never had social media, they all got that still.

Youtbe was once the least censored platform. You could write anything you want. Now you arent allowe to critisize anything. But Tiktok is probably the most censored platform. The very first video i saw on Tiktok was a minor girl doing an indecent dance. I commented "Arent you a bit too young to dance like this?". Then i got the notification, that my comment was removed, because it violated the terms for being TOXIC. Meanwhile all the predatory comments encouraging the girl and werent removed. All these emberassing people on Tiktok feel encouraged, because all the negative comments get filtered out.
