I’m doing this next week but my client a subtle Bronde look could I use a her natural colour or would I have to go in with a dark brown demi colour? X

You could totally use her natural color & use this technique just to add in the lighter pieces! If they have any grown out lighter pieces through your sections that you want to be all dark, you can just formulate to match their natural color & just apply over the light pieces vs having to cover from roots-ends!
