While there were some really stupid questions in this (I think the WiFi question was meant to about if Tiktok can access information of other users connected to your home network. I.e. can it collect data on other devices connected to the same WiFi network without consent) there is merit to some of the questions that were asked. There are legitimate concerns about TikTok and its soft power propaganda abilities, for example. I am also not sure how the CEO mentioning he was Singaporean in response to the fellow with the eyepatch's question on the parent company ´ByteDance' and their level of involvement with tiktok really meant anything. It doesn't change the fact that ByteDance is the owner and de facto "owned" by the politburo of the CCP. If this doesn't concern anyone, then, I guess we might as well go all in on dictatorships.

I'm a Malaysian American and I live in the US and currently in Malaysia and I compare the TikTok content. To be honest particular content in the US is ugly and horrible It actually is demeaning and it's not even comparable to the worst aspects of Facebook Shorts. I notice the content in Asia is different and much more motivational and developmental in tone. So that's positive in terms of social community building.. One can't help but wonder if the algorithms are kind of twisted to target certain groups in the US; people of lower-income and education by SES and psychological profiling is actually something that can be fine tuned and in terms of trying to demoralize a culture or to weaken a culture to be exploited by micro targeting This is a one way to go So let's not judge the Republicans so harshly even if they appear stupid This is a genuine concern The US has been very free and open but it's also been abused by its rivals. I speak as a proud Asian with strong roots in Malaysia and Singapore.
