Acrylic pouring for beginners - step by step. Here I want to show you what happens before and after my videos. I'll show you how a picture is created from start to finish including all the materials used.
In the past I always used the Pouring Medium from one manufacturer, and the colors from other manufacturers.
But I never had a suitable recipe, sometimes I needed more water or more color or Pouring Medium, depending on the supplier.
Meanwhile, I'm not trying around, I'm committed to a manufacturer and have been using the materials of Royal Talens for some time. www.royaltalens.com The products are coordinated and offer me the necessary quality. I have z. B. no cracks or other surprises after drying.
The Pouring Medium by Talens can be found here:
www.royaltalen... (Advertising)
For the acrylic paints Talens offers different product lines, I use the Amsterdam Standard Series and Standard Series Specialties, which are Qualitatively top! Most colors of the Standard and Specialties series have a lightfastness of the colors of at least 100 years under museum conditions.
The acrylic paints of the Amsterdam Standard Series:
www.royaltalen... (Advertising)
The Acrylics of the Standard Specialties Series:
www.royaltalen... (advertising)
My recipe for the colors is quite simple, one part water, one part acrylic paint, one part Pouring Medium.
In order to know how much I need, I use a kitchen scale and weigh the units in grams or ounce.
To get cells, I mix in the acrylic paints a little silicone oil.
Silicon oil, no matter where you buy it in the world have the same properties, only the CST value indicates how thin or viscous the respective variety is.
I use CST 400 here.
To remove air bubbles and to get more cells, I heat the picture briefly with a heat gun.
After the picture has dried, I wipe the silicone residues from the picture with wet wipes.
Finally, the picture is still sealed. The colors are again beautiful. So I have no brushstrokes on the picture I use a clearcoat for spraying.
Clearcoat from Royal Talens:
www.royaltalen... (Advertising)
As you can see, there are no great magic tricks when it comes to casting acrylic, it is important to work with good materials and you will get colorful pictures that look great in years to come.
If you have any questions, then write me a comment.
Creative greetings
Tiktus

As an absolute beginner, I really appreciate this video! It is detailed and precise. I love that it was full of info without wasting time. I especially liked the written description as it helped me to take notes while still fully watching the video. I also enjoyed that you used the heat gun twice, as it really demonstrated how the heat impacts the final result. This is the best "beginner" demonstration video I've watched so far and I've been marathon watching acrylic painting lately. So, thank you!

You can replace the silicone oil with dish soap it gives cels, not as dramatic but it will work. And technically you don’t have to seal it or varnish it afterwards but it keeps it from cracking as it dries. Depends on if you want to sell your work or just do it for fun.

I found it in this acrylic pouring , it really peaked my creativity. I am just trying to find a way to make what I create to my liking as some of the pours have been terrible, but I refuse to give it up. I'm glad the ratios were clear, but beginner's need to know that there's different acrylic paint thicknesses with which type of acrylic paint you use. The thick tubed paint like the one that was used in the video's water and pouring medium ratios will be different than the acrylic paint in bottles since those are thinner paints.

Salina McCain now Garber 11/17/2018 you have to torch it to bring the bubbles to the surface. If you don’t they’ll leave bigger marks when the paint is drying. I forgot on one of mine and the bubbles came close to the surface when drying but didn’t pop. It left bumps in the surface. I put a pin through them but couldn’t save the painting . CL3AN N M3AN There is a list of “officially recognized” phobias- as in, things _doctors agree_ are genuine phobias. Trypophobia just hasn’t made that list yet. However, speaking as someone who has suffers from this phobia, I can promise it’s a real thing some people have to cope with. I think it’s far more accurate to say that it’s not an *official* phobia, instead of saying it’s not a *real* one.

Awesome video - thanks for posting this! I'd love to ask a question though - I followed your steps (this was my 3rd or 4th pour ever) but had to do a few things differently. I used olive oil drops (I read that was an okay substitute) instead of the silicone, and I didn't have access to my heat gun. The pour turned out VERY cool but after I let it dry for a few hours and came back to it, all my cells had closed up! Has that ever happened to you? Maybe the heat gun or different oil would have made all the difference? Either way - I will be trying again with a heat gun this time. Thanks again!

Just stumbled across this video. Thank you . I am usually a more crafty person ( knitting, crocheting) and was never any good at the fine arts, and not a big fan of "abstract" art. But this art form, wow! I've been viewing a lot of theses videos. Thank you for the step-by-step instructions. I don't have the space in my apt to do this, but maybe when this "plague " ends I might be able to find a studio that would offer a workshop.

What I usually do with the left over paint, I definitely will use it on another canvas, and create another creation, paint is too expensive to not take advantage of it and be creative, most likely you might be a beginner in regards on what is taking place, right now,but this is the way we learned, by taking a chance to improve artistry, may you're a self taught artist,,,art is art ,and I commend you for trying to do something different, nothing wrong with it,I loved it good luck and keep practicing, you will accomplished your goal,,, don't get discouraged, your artistry is beautiful, Zoe

I’m an acrylic pouring beginner. This video answered a lot of questions for me! However, I have one question the video did not address. After you painted the canvas base black, did you let that paint dry before you started your pour? Or was the Black still semi-wet when you began your pour? I appreciate your help!
@kodi3881
@kodi3881 2 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing and found out that if you go to 9:34 in the vid, you can see that there is a slight thumb mark where he held the canvas, meaning that the black paint is actually semi-wet. Hope that helps.
@hippydippy
@hippydippy 2 жыл бұрын
@@kodi3881 Pretty sure it's dried. When you're using silicone it help's to prevent the canvas showing through. A common practice. I always pre paint my canvas's before pouring for that reason, although you can also pour a mound in the center before pouring & pour on top which is also an option that works to prevent that "many" times.

This Picture convinced me to try it myself - I was curious about the technique before but didnt like the Outcome. I still have one question: can you also use a Standard hairdryer? And if Not, Why? Not enough heat but much air movement?
@Veronica-cb5ry
@Veronica-cb5ry 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. A hairdryer is great for stretching the paint (instead of tipping the canvas) but the heat gun (or a lighter) is easier to control for cells.

I know you asked this a long time ago, but I'll also add that a torch (ie. One that would be used for creme brulee) works great because it's all heat, no air. Hair drier will give you a different effect :)
