About a year or so ago, a violent tornado hit Yazoo City, MS, completely destroying a church building. I believe it was the pastor who was in the church when the tornado flattened the building. He dove under the Lord's table, and was not hurt. When he looked at one of the hymnals, it was open to the page this song was on....in the midst of such tragedy, God does have a sense of humor...it brightened the lives of those who heard this...

A dear lady I know was the song leader at a local ladies' retreat. It was on "the storms of life". She led this one but told the (some) hundred ladies that she'd never get through the hymn. For those who have accepted the free gift of salvation, we can hold on to the promise that there will come a day when no storm cloud will ever darken the sky again. I can't speak for you but I'm thankful that I have a home in Heaven where I will one day forever be by my Saviors side. Just remember that your salvation was free, but it came with a price. We did nothing to deserve God's Grace but I'm thankful He loves us enough to bestow upon us the riches of His Grace. It took the precious blood of Jesus Christ for us to receive that free gift so let's not forget that our salvation came with a price. Hakim Mohamad thanks for asking, but when it comes to God and religion I would not know what to believe. I grew up Protestant but as a child I sensed the falseness of the church business. Despite the beauty (at times) . In my mind , all religion is man-made. But people love, and perhaps need, fairytales.

Hakim Mohamad It is not so easy to answer these questions. But for example, about, “religion”. I grew up knowing only one and was taught to believe it was the truest and the best. Later I learned there are many religions and most promoting theirs as “the best”. Even later I learned that what I was made to believe (i.e. The Bible, the New Testament) simply could not be true. At least not in the light of todays scientific knowledge. Books have been written by men and promoted as the “word of God”. People that were able to write these religious scripts were the law-makers of the land. But yes, I did sing hymns in a church choir as a child, and somehow this is rooted in me, despite all my misgivings. Hence I don’t know what to believe. What I can see with my own eyes and grounds me is the cycle of Nature.

The falseness, or untrue-ness (if that’s a word) came from sensing the superficiality in some of those elder “church-goers” (family members) which I could see quite clearly, as a child. However, the good things of my childhood religion are still with me too, i haven’t thrown everything overboard. But I do question a lot, I question what is written in the Bible, some of it so obvious not to be taken literally, at least. Why I cry, I don’t know. Perhaps as you say, it is because I am longing for something undescribeble, which is hinted on in the music. . Thank you for your interest, I will take it at heart.
