राग तिलक कामोद एक बहुत ही मधुर राग है। इस राग का नाम तिलक कामोद होते हुए भी इसका राग कामोद से किसी भी प्रकार का संबंध नहीं है। इस राग के सभी स्वर, राग देस के समान होते हुए भी इस राग का चलन भिन्न है और इसी कारण तिलक कामोद अपना अलग ही वातावरण पैदा करता है। इस राग में मन्द्र निषाद बहुत ही महत्त्वपूर्ण है।दोनों ही कलाकारों द्वारा इस राग के साथ पूर्ण न्याय किया गया है। जय हो.....

What a great rendition of Tilak Kamod by Pt. Niladri Kumar! Pt. Satyaji Talwalkar is one of the prominent tabla players of the younger generation and he does justice to the melody with the rhythm he provides!

This is a "Suna-Sunaya" rendition of recycled material from the Tilak Kamod of Masters like Vilayat Khan, Raees Khan and others. It is in the bandish and tankari of a raga that the origins of gharana music are reflected. In its absence, even a hobbyist Sitarist can rework well-known bandishes of Masters to make a claim for himself. For example, a Drut or Madhya laye gat can be turned into a Vilambit by borrowing phrases from the original. So what is wrong with that? It is still music isn't it? Yes, but the seed from which a tree grows is absent here. Gharana music provides the seeds from which tall trees grow. Ok, so we can still enjoy the borrowings. Music is music after all, gharana or not, right?
