Tile Hearth Pad D.I.Y SAVE MONEY! (Similar to store bought designs)

Tile hearth pads can be very expensive to buy (anywhere from $300-$800) give or take, however if you have some basic carpentry skills, they are relatively easy to make. In this video, I used a tile design similar to products online, and re-created my own hearth pad to the specific dimensions that were required for my wood stove. In total, the project costs were around $120. My local flooring store gave me about 20sq ft of tile for free! The tiles were left over from a job. Keep this in mind when trying to save money on your hearth pad.

At first, the shakey-cam was tough to watch, but you have a few tips and tricks I didnt see in other similar videos, so I toughed it out and I'm glad I did. This video is 100% going in my "doin stuff" playlist. Now, I dont see any other comments here so I'll leave a few. The KZbin algorithm likes that 😆.

Its a gorgeous set up you got there. I really like your firewood storage. Is that a repurposed closet, or did you custom add it? It's a heck of an idea anyway. Looks cleaner than one of those iron racks or a wood chest.

Did you need to make any alterations to the wall behind the stove? And, are you in US or Canada? I'm looking into installing a wood stove, and I wanna make sure I don't miss any differences in code or practice. I'm in Canada

Yes, I had to do alterations behind the stove. The wall behind the stove we took out, down to the concrete. Then tiled over concrete. Don't forget code in Canada for type 1 type 2 hearths differ.
