I was incredibly surprised by people having run on and not pathing manually in the banning. It would (for example) have eliminated any gate shenanigans as people are forced to actually look at their character.

I just think both of them had the wrong mentality. Both of them were wasting tiles with the thought of "what's the shortest path from my current location to my destination", when the mentality you want is "what's the shortest path from ANY tile I have unlocked to my current destination" If either of them had adopted that mindset they would have crushed, even with mistakes.

I was wondering about this, I know for settled his tileman he could prevent walking on non-unlocked tiles, I wondered if they may be able to do the same

Another very big tile save would have been dying on a fresh account. The first time you die, you are sent to death's domain in the lumbridge graveyard and that brings you so much closer to the fishing tutor.

Im surprised settled didn't cover the patching around gates that ultimately costed zoe the 3 tiles she lost to lose the banning against Rodie. It was IMPossible to come back from that. I was thinking about - if there's no time limit, you could claim runes from the mage tutor, to hit the imps. I think that way you would also circumvent your character running after the imp after a teleport, plus its a ranged option. I was immediately thinking about the imp, due to the pot of flour saving so many potential tiles, and I'm mildly sad neither of them went for it

When Soup announced Tile Man as the banning challenge I was like "omg bruhhhhhhh Settled would have crushed this"

Another non-imp strat for 5he benning is the fishing trawler's general store sells pots of flour. Train fishing to 15 to use the grouping tele then run the 10-ish tiles over to pick up the flour and the bucket. Far as I can tell the limiting factor for the run is the bucket of milk.

In terms of pure blunders Zoe lost 14 tiles and Roidie lost 7, now obviously both players could have saved even more tiles by planning better, those are just the ones that are easy to spot on a first glance. This was an awesome challenge that could have gone either way and I don't think that I could have beat either of them unless I used at least an hour, maybe more.

Should've made the tileman as soon as someone finishes you have like 30 minutes or something so you could risk going fast to panic someone if you wanted.

When you die the first time, you go to death's office. When you exit, do you exit in the graveyard or get sent back to Lumbridge courtyard? I was wondering this as the former could save you a ton of tiles.

The addition id make to the tileman challange is that a penalty is imposed based on time difference. That way there is pressure to go quick.
