Love this video, I remember doing a few 10’ long ranch signs when I had my plasma cam 4 foot table. Plasma Cam tech support walked me through step by step on the phone on my first sign. After watching this video it’s basically the same and it came back to me. This video just woke up my creativity side of my elderly brain,😂 Thank You Again.

Awesome new feature and great to see the continued development. Definitely adding value to your software. I wonder if index pins would have been helpful? You could easily poke a few holes in your part and down into your bed to put pins in. That way, you could just slide the workpiece up to the pins and get perfect alignment.

We think that there will be a lot of discussion about workflow for indexing in the near future. Pins have definitely been mentioned a lot.

Pins are definitely the way to go. Lines parallel that guiderail you'll never notice if you're off (as he stated) but as soon as you start dealing with diagonals or curves you'll see it immediately. (See timestamp 5:28)

well thats in one axis - how do you handle the other for really long wide stuff... I understand tiling in essence... someone needs to create a non-rail oriented floating cutter head to span long and wide materials...

Any chance you could do a video on cutting dados in cabinet sides side is 12 inches wide 63 inches tall It needs to have 5 dados in the sides 10inch spacing between the dados dados .75 wide and 12 long. It would be helpful to show the router moving and the touch probe and bit setter being used. and show when to set the XYZ Thanks Kevin

Couldn’t you do some indexing holes in the waste areas so that you can slide the sheet along then drop the Same size bit into holes exactly? The alternative would be to screw a piece of wood near centre of sheet that overhangs and stopped by a bolt in those side guide rails. Can the shapeoko etc be stored in vertical position?

Great feature! What would you suggest as the max size for a 4XXL width-wise? I know we can get around 33" but that would likely require screwing into the bed, which may not be a bad option. Do you have any other thoughts on it? I've got some very long things I'd like to do and have been working on manually setting this up. One last question, using the linear array, is it worth adding in index peg holes and putting a pet in the bed? It seems like that would make the operation a no-brainer if there were two diagonal holes square to each other (I'd probably put four in to have the added flexibility).

I'm curious why "NOTE: Carbide Create V7 requires Carbide Motion 565 or higher. " I've paid for the pro version, is should I not be able to output NC files and then load it with whatever version of Carbide Motion that I have already?
@carbide3d
@carbide3d Жыл бұрын
If you'd like to load G-code, any version works. If you'd like to load the C2D file in Motion, you need 565 or later.
@Marcus_Caius
@Marcus_Caius Жыл бұрын
CM 5.65 is NOT new. It's the version that add C2D file extension available from the open option. Right now(3/15/23) the current stable CM version is 5.79. You don't need that last version but the say minimum version for the tiling option to be loaded is 5.65.

So if I had an extremely large project, like 32ft x 16ft, could Carbide 3d handle it? I have a Pro XXL so I am limited to 33" x 33" panels but provided I could attach all the cut panels it seems like it would work. Do you see any potential issues? I recently turned down a project that size due to the time it would take to penalize everything manually.
@carbide3d
@carbide3d Жыл бұрын
You'd probably need to segment the design into 32" wide strips, and then you could index those through the machine using the tiling feature in CC Pro.

@@carbide3d So does it only tile along the Y axis and not the X as well?

Steven, there is an X Overlap to allow for designs to be tiled in both directions. You can create a continuous design in the X direction with adjacent panels.

Is the X=0 off by half a bit diameter?
@carbide3d
@carbide3d Жыл бұрын
The X was off due to a couple of alignment factors. This was fixed with the third tiling cut during the video. Keeping X consistent and sliding the length of the tile are the largest factors for success.
@s.peters947
@s.peters947 Жыл бұрын
But your X is at -1234mm which is the center of the bit, you then trimmed your guide blocks with the bit at the alignment. When you come back to place your plywood along your wood blocks then it would be half a bit diameter over from your set up, right?

I have a 2x4 machine agaisnt the wall. Im planning on doing a 44" round table top. Can i tile by revolving the piece 180° ?
@carbide3d
@carbide3d Жыл бұрын
The short answer is yes it's possible. This does introduce a variety of factors related to positioning of vectors in CAD, origin of your cut, stock positioning relative to your cutout and other things which I'm surly not thinking of right now. Run some smaller tests to work out the exact process and positioning, THEN GO BIG!
