I remember that old video of you clearing that yard of all the overgrowth! It popped up in my feed, and that was how I found your channel. It must have been four years ago. I'm not surprised the video went viral. After all, who could resist watching until the end to see the massive change in the garden?

Rotten when yer knees no longer want to work with you! I remember it well. Well on its way now Darren. Ken did a thankful task in the jungle, looking better already. Stay well.

I can relate about knees & getting old LOL Carpenter & Joiner for 37yrs (53yo now) & left knee is knackered but it's messing me back up now & my other knee/ankle where I put more weight on my good leg. People don't realise how harsh this building game is on your body & these muppet politicians are wanting my age group to retire at 70yo because yeah you see loads of 70yr olds running around building sites & climbing up on roofs.

Ken did a very good job in the garden. Especially because he did use a hedge trimmer. Did you know you can buy work trousers with special knee pads made of foam for this kind of jobs?

Great to see the tiles go on. The bottom row looks to angle down more. Does something go under these?
@darrenthebuilder2 ай бұрын
Yes they will sit on the facia board which will lift them up a bit. I wasn’t able to collect the facia today which I would of put in first but I can fit it later/tomorrow if I can get it

When you mention clearing a jungle, I was wondering how the land you cleared out in Dominica is now. Surely that must be overgrown again by now.

Shouldnt you double batten at the bottom of the 1st course of roof tiles for the bottom of the roof tiles to rest on it cause it makes the 1st course of tiles dip at the bottom

Do you nail every tile?
@darrenthebuilder2 ай бұрын
No need especially at that pitch. We did every other row which is even excessive in my opinion
@norwood88882 ай бұрын
Why no nails in the first row of tiles? I know you will be fitting a facia board but you will not be able to reach the nail holes?
@darrenthebuilder2 ай бұрын
The entire first row is nail. you may notice in part of the video Tristan nailing the first row. We nailed pretty much every other row as we went.
@norwood88882 ай бұрын
@@darrenthebuilder You were videoed putting the first two rows of tiles on at the same time, the first row was not nailed!
@darrenthebuilder2 ай бұрын
@norwood8888 no need to should mate lol and you can ignore what I just said if you like but you miss saw what you think you saw. At 7:48 you can see the first row already laid and Tristan nailing the final few. The first row was all nailed 👍🏾
@norwood88882 ай бұрын
You are right Darren, sorry, it was the second row you didn’t nail… certainly not when you were putting the second and third rows on at the same time, about 9.14.

We tiles are all laid straight, Thats how interlocking tiles are laid, They have little "gutters" under each interlocking join

Hey Darren, what's the minimum pitch requirement's for using concrete tiles?
@darrenthebuilder2 ай бұрын
It depends on the individulal tile but these are 17.5 min pitch with 100mm head lap. The rough version are min 22.5 deg

That roof pitch looks less than 17.5 degrees, redland 49 can’t go on lower pitch than that. You’re going to have fun with installing the fascia board as you will need to push up the bottom of the first row of tiles to become even with the rest of tiles. Have you thought of ventilation, I see the insulation between rafters ??
@darrenthebuilder2 ай бұрын
Watch previous videos and you’ll get confirmation on you’re queries. Fascia boards will be a breeze for us, we have had much harder things to deal with lol. There is ventilation. Everything goes through building control.
