This is beautiful & may they all rest in peace. They are not singing in a “doomed” scenario as is grotesquely titled. This was, according to officials reports, a farewell song to a superior officer prior to the tragedy. No need to try to make something more redemptive than it already is. They perished serving - that is highly honorable. It feels like it’s ‘not enough’ when titles like this are meant to make it seem like the sub was sinking while they were singing which is exactly how it reads to some unfamiliar. It’s a perfectly beautiful moment without the editorialized headline.

I feel for the families, I fully understand the pain and the terror the crew went through. As an old USN Fast Attack sailor, there were several close calls. No matter what country who lost one, as submariners we are brothers.

@@not4ne1 A lot of sailors prefer their remains stay with the sunken vessel. For example most the men assigned to sea going vessel, who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor choose to have water burials in Pearl Harbor with their fallen crew mates. It isn't out of the ordinary to let service members on fallen sea vessels rest in the place they love. They bravely take that risk when they serve their countries. Even people by who work on other forms of sea going vessels know that is a likely possibility.
