Thank you so much for this, I’m 29 and turn 30 this year. Been thinking of everything I gave up on when I saw how difficult it might be to accomplish my goals and wrestling was the first dream I left behind when I was 17. I’m now trying to get in the best shape of my life and enroll in training here in Las Vegas by the end of the year. No more living comfortable I want to at least say I tried you know. Goodluck with everything my friend!

That’s awesome. I’m your same age and I often think about how it would be for someone our age to start off their career. I'm always reminded of the phrase i heard regarding weight training: "The best time to start was 10 years ago. The second best time is today." (Although i probably wouldnt want someone pre-pubescent or well above retirement age getting in the ring...) Like a number of people in this comment section, I also started at 35. A little over a year in now, and I'm glad i did it...even though I'm sidelined with an injury, but that happens to people in general. I do wish I started earlier, but that isn't really something i can change...yet!

As someone who started out half a year ago with training at age 33, I can confirm that so far I don't feel too old. If anything, it makes me feel younger, because I finally found that kind of sport that motivates me to take better care of my overall fitness. I was never a total slouch, but now I have goals to go after. Most of my fellow rookies are around 20, just as you said, but so far I don't feel like they are leaving me in the dust. The tendency is that it takes me longer to master more athletic moves but I'm faster to pick up on complex technique and understand how motions work. I guess as ever so often you just need to focus on your strengths and make sure your weaknesses don't get the better of you.

I started this year at 30. Primarily because I was never in a position in my life before this point to be able to. Weather it was money, location, or personal obligations preventing me, but I finally had an opportunity and ability to. It's been great so far, and I love it.

I've had people train simply because they love wrestling, and want to engage with it more fully...but they have no career aspirations. If you pay for a training class, I think you should get to decide what you do with the skills you learn. You might learn because learning is its own reward. You might learn because you want to apply it one day performing in the ring. But you don't have to chase the same things everyone else does. Your goals are yours to decide.
