When I was in college, I lived in the same dorm complex as a lot of athletes. They were always up at 05:00 to 05:30. I used to hear their motorized scooters racing through the part of the campus I lived in. It gave me a newfound respect for athletes, and when I would hear claim that athletes had it easy, I would just laugh because it was such an ignorant statement. You can have that kind of lifestyle; it's not for me. Much respect to you and here is to your channel blowing up!

I wasn’t a swimmer but I did cross country and track in college so the early morning and double workouts some days definitely resinated with me. While it becomes routine, some weeks it’s easy to wake up early and other weeks it’s such a struggle getting out of bed. Add that and a full class schedule with maintenance training. So few hours in the day

just curious as to how thats good for your body? I'm genuinely wondering as i studied kine and feel like your body would breakdown more than it would actually improve. I'm personally against early morning practices just for the mere fact that your body needs sufficient sleep to recover and build itself but maybe you guys in the domain could better explain whether its good or bad?

middle/long distance prep is sooooo much harder than sprint prep.. like literally 100x more taxing on the nervous system and the body in general. And yes im not just some couch potato garbage, but a 2x u19pro road cycling vice nationalchampion, Germany
@jeffsanders3453 Жыл бұрын
@@PKperformanceEU The even harder part for middle/long distance runners is that we are full year around athletes. We use the summer to prep for the cross country season and once that ends, we get very little time off before we start back training for the indoor/outdoor track seasons. And once track end, the same cycle continues. I feel I really only got about 4-6 weeks off of routine training a year.

Just graduated from doing D1 athletics on a track and field team for 5 years and it was definitely very tough. Balancing the practice schedule on top of being all over the country on the weekends for competitions, having a job, and having a full-time class schedule was very difficult at times. However, it was without a doubt the most rewarding time of my life. It didn't matter if I failed or succeeded in competitions, the experience I gained and the work ethic I developed is something that I'll carry for the rest of my life. Super happy to see somebody documenting the everyday life of a college athlete, please keep making videos like these!

I really respect the grind that it takes to be a collegiate athlete, because I know it's hard. Watching this video really did help put into perspective what it's like for you guys. I've been a TA and have also been in many practicum classes that involve group projects with student athletes, and I was always so upset sometimes when they were on my team, because they really are forced to prioritize their sport (to keep a scholarship especially because classes in the US are so damn expensive) and made it so stressful to be on a team with someone who really could not focus on their studies. BUT, I know what it takes, so thank you for opening my mind a little more and letting me empathize. Really, kudos to all of you.

Very good video, takes me back to 5 am weights with my college baseball team. Sorry for all the questions lol I have a small gym which I'm looking to expand soon and need ideas for dealing with large groups

@@highviewbarbell No worries! And for the first couple of time we did snatches, regardless if you had experience with or not, we would all just use the bar or even s wooden bar to practice the technique. Not just difficult, but probably stupid. Most high-school and college athletes would probably be fitter, stronger, faster, more injury-resilient AND perform better in school if they just ditched the super early morning practices and let them sleep as much as they need to. There's probably SOME model kid who can fall asleep by 8pm and wake up 100% refreshed for a 6AM practice, but it just isn't feasible for most adoloscents.
