I love this scene! Them both admitting how important they are to each other without really intending to, being vulnerable around each other, Lucy saying yes with her heart before her brain kicks in... Also them doing the grown up thing and ending it with Chris before giving their relationship a real shot. And through all of it they were still so much Tim and Lucy - so appreciative of each other!

They’re trying to find the words to say what they have both known for some time. Sort of like a volcano that’s working underground and then all of a sudden, it erupts. Some emotions can be so deep that you just know, even though it wasn’t explicitly talked about previously.

I actually think as an actor, he's brilliant at communicating what he's thinking or feeling by his facial expressions!!!!!! Some have been heart breaking. The scenes w/ his Dad last yr & Lucy when he discovered the truth, as Lucy said, while Tim was writing up the report b/c he told her, that his Dad confessed to him, that he KILLED this neighbor. Lucy suddenly says, "Tim, I called (I can't remember her long name) I called her back in?!?!" And Tim didn't get defensive, but asked her what did she say?!?!" When Tim asked her why? She said to him, "Because I knew there was more to her story, but you could only c the version you wanted 2c & I felt there was something more that she wasn't telling us". U could tell Tim wasn't his usual self, b/c Lucy asks a really astute question. Why would he then keep the gun?!?! And not throw it in the river. And Tim says, "I don't know why " But a lay person, who knew enough, would think that that was too odd & that there must've been more to why he kept the gun. Of course, it was hard 4 Tim 2b objective, which he normally is!!!! Tim had told Lucy earlier, as she generously 4 Tim's sake, paid 4 a case of children's cookies 2 get the ballistics back. She tells him this, b/c he was surprised that she had the ballistics so fast!!!! She uncovered that the murder was 25 yrs ago & who was killed & that this woman was his alibi. His mistress had told the Detectives that his Dad was helping her w/ her taxes that nite. Tim knew immediately that wasn't true & tells Lucy that they were having an affair, BUT his mom knew. He recalled the events of that nite as he was playing sports & his mom & sister were with him. He told Lucy he was 14 when he was found murdered & that it was thot 2b a Home Invasion. Tim also said 2 Lucy, "My Dad hated that guy!!!" And assumed, her husband discovered their affair & it gave his Dad motive 2 kill him. I don't think how they ended, that episode, that Tim ever told his sister Ginny either, about the affair & what their Dad DID!!!! I think he kept the truth from her, b/c he wanted to spare his sister. BUT...Tim wasn't himself. Normally he would've as they say 'use cop eyes' in the show. AND Lucy knew & was right that it DIDN'T make sense at all, for him to keep the gun if he had murdered him. But Tim wasn't defensive with Lucy & asked her, "What did she say?" Suddenly we c Tim back at the hospice where he was dying. And Tim brought him alcohol of his Dad's preference & his Dad refers to it as a present, while Tim says, "Think of it as a push." And tells him that he knows he didn't murder this man, BUT that his mistress had, who beat up his wife. And that nite, she shot him & his Dad made it look like a home invasion & kept the gun, in case the cops got close, he would frame someone else. His Dad tells him, to leave her alone, & how she deserves a medal, b/c he was an abusive bastard!!!!! AND suddenly Tim went off & said, "He was an abusive bastard?!?!" And his Dad is shocked & says, "You think I was like him?!?!" AND his Dad suddenly says such an arrogant thing, "Son, you're a man b/c of me " AND Tim is BOTH angry & u can tell it's emotionally painfully. And yells back w/ tears in his eyes, "I am who I am, in spite of you." And says "Good bye Dad...." BUT...Lucy is right there in the hallway, & immediately asks him, if he's okay? And Tim says, "No. He NEVER protected any of us, but for his mistress, he broke 1/2 a dozen laws for her." His eyes were still filled with tears, & he looked crushed. B/c Ginny was also on the previous episode & on a ride-a-long. And suddenly u realize how abusive he was to Tim. But it's when his sister says to Lucy that seeing a therapist has really helped her come to terms with things. Tim says short & cold, "I'm good." But Ginny presses him, & says, "You REALLY don't think you have any trauma from what he put you through. At 7 yrs old, he dropped you off at (some) park w/ a compass & told u to find your way home. Lucy jokes slightly & says, "A Tim Test". But u can c that it bothered him & when Ginny says, "What?" Lucy says, "Nothing." The most heartbreaking moment is when he looks at Lucy, utterly vulnerable & suddenly says, "The Tim Tests," they don't make me like him?" His childhood pain at the surface. And Lucy says softly, " I know..... You're nothing like him." But he's still just this open wound. Finally Lucy says, "Come here." Very softly & gives him a long hug, & says it again, "You're nothing like him." BUT... Lucy also brings out smiles to him. I love the scene when they dance at The Reception of Nyla & James. They were so cute when he tells her, he still owes her a dance, b/c they never got to dance at Angela's & Wesley's wedding, when suddenly Tim says, "Chen, save me a dance." They were so cute dancing together & I remember thinking, I've never seen Tim that happy with Ashley!!!!! She knows how to make him smile & laugh. When she obviously knew his locker combination & tries to sneak in one more pair of boots, but he catches her. And in the end, she tells him she by accident ordered 2 pairs. It was too cute. And Sergeant Grey told him as a Sergeant that he needed to praise ppl more. & says okay to Grey, but that it doesn't come easy to him. SO...as she's leaving, he suddenly somewhat awkwardly says, "You & Nolan....did real good work today " But then says, "I was told it was important as a Supervisor to give praise." Lucy's cute & says, "What else do you appreciate about me?!?" Tim replies, "That you know when not to push it." She says "Okay," & then leaves. BUT Tim just suddenly breaks out into a smile by himself. And the same when they tried the double date. I call it, Tim & Lucy's 1st date ironically, b/c that was what it looked like, talking & laughing together!!!!!

Everything in this scene is so perfect. I mean Lucy trying to cover the difficult conversation with jokes about Tim dating the lifeguard and him hating beach. Tim trying to go with the talk to get things stright. Lucy being so open about the importance of their relationship for her and scared by her own honesty. When she says they should leave things like they have been she is not even looking him on the eyes. Tim making the move questioning it and searching the answers in her face❤️ Finally him growing the courage to ask her out and beaming do happily when she said yes. ❤️

I don’t think they talked, which actually makes it even better. It was an unspoken understanding between them after the undercover stint. When Tim came to Lucy to tell her to go to UC school and they both were like “we almost but we didn’t”….those feelings never left, they just pushed them aside. They were both feeling things and knew the other was feeling the same but couldn’t do anything while still being attached to others. And that’s what makes them so perfect for each other! Understanding and feelings in the same way without a word being said ❤ But that’s just me 😊

Dear Miracle, thank you for posting this. Now, I love Tim & Lucy's relationship, but I've been following it exclusively from KZbin, so I didn't know for sO long that they both had someone else they were in a relationship with, which then soured things for me (even though I still wanted them together), because cheating is not okay, ever, don't at me, & I hated that such devoted, intelligent people were just going to go with it without breaking up with their other people first. But this, ThiS is exactly what I wanted! I'm so happy he asked, & that she reassured him she knows how to treat her boyfriends right. She'll break things off with Chris the right way before moving on.

Does anyone feel like there is a scene missing? Like, why was it so awkward for Tim and Lucy to ride together in the beginning?? Where did this conversation come from? THEY TOOK A SCENE FROM US, I TELL YA!

It’s been awkward between them for a while. She avoided riding with him since the whole undercover kissing thing. The other times they spent together since have been circumstantial. Him in the hospital or smn like that. They really haven’t sat down together since

It’s really them finding the words to say what they have both known for some time. Sort of like a volcano that’s working underground and then all of a sudden, it erupts. Some emotions can be so deep that you just know, even though it wasn’t explicitly talked about previously.

Chris asked Lucy to move in with him. Chen had to ride with Tim today. Chris was calling and sending listings as if Lucy said yes and it was stressing her out all day

The part where she says I don’t want to ruin the most important relationship I have (eg Tim). I knew that chris was pushing her about the apartment/house and that she has all these moments with Tim and doubts about Chris. But I feel like there was a piece of the conversation we never got. Like was there in a scene left out where Tim admitted to Lucy that he has feelings and that’s what lead them to that moment to talk.

@fan123445able My impression was that after riding with Tim and realizing she wasn’t in love with Chris because of Tim (when she was about to say, “he’s just not you”), she was going to tell Tim here how she was feeling. But before she could begin (she takes a breath to speak), Tim starts telling her that she’s with Chris because it’s safe. Lucy mistakenly thinks that Tim is saying that she’s scared of of taking a chance with him. So that’s why after she says to him, “if we do this/this is the most important relationship” he pauses and stares at her. Up until that point they had been talking about two different things. lol It’s after she says that he realizes her feelings for him and since he’s feeling the same, he then says, “you’re right” and basically confirms his feelings.
