The bite did cause Italy to lose. Can't include the straight red card that was very harsh considering the player was battling for position and there was no force involved in the tackle. As of now Italy are down one man. Saurez bites chelini where no call was made and the ball is out for a corner kick. Where Uruguay scores from that corner kick. So therefore Suarez should've been kicked out especially if Marchisio got one for nothing. And Italy would've had a free kick from Suarez instead of the corner they scored on. So yes they lost bc of the bite.

The Marchisio ejection was not a red card by any standard - yet the Suarez bite was just the last in a long string of enormous Uruguay fouls, none punished. Forlan I bet was ashamed already by that 80 minute mark. And mind you all this with the score level - the goal came after Suarez freaked out, which surely affected Chiellini's ability to defend the net. Meaning that by right, Italy advances - or a replay full match with Uruguay at 10 men. I am quite serious. FIFA has done this in qualification and emptied out the fans when necessary. And it was never more important to obtain a fair result than it was the other day. Well done Sid

I am a bit late, but yes I strongly agree, Marchisio should not of been sent off just for clipping a guy in the shins, that should be no more then a free kick. Ridiculous and then Suarez eats Chiellini for lunch and the ref does nothing, Italy had a very good chance of winning the cup this year but FIFA is fixed and fake peices of you know what.

The question is not whether or not Italy would have won or Italy would have gone through, but whether Luiz Suarez should have been suspended. This was the THIRD time he bit someone on the pitch. Not to mention his rampant racism shown to Patrice Evra. HE may be a great player, but not only did he NOT get kicked out of this game he got a slap on the wrist & a HUGE contract from Barca after this.

While I agree that Suarez is in desperate need of professional help and should be banned until then, to say that Italy got "screwed" over is a total reach. Italy is going home because they played like shite today and against Costa Rica. The "bite" did not cause any of that.
