1. Be proud of the problem that you are solving. 2. Create a long term vision that others will follow. 3. List you values and model their behaviour 4. Align your culture with your customers. 5. Discuss the importance of diversity (views) to your company. 6. Put a hiring process in place and plans to evolve it.

"Company culture is that implicit set of behaviours that inform your employees how to behave when it hasn't been explicitly laid out for them" Great definition here!

Thank you Tim. It was nice meeting you. You have the same warm and kind sounding voice like PG and Garry. Building a company culture list was really helpful. 😃

Hire the right people. Culture starts here. I’ve hired and fired many people and the biggest thing I’ve internalized is hire fast, fire fast. Get the right people in the right seats.

7:23 New companies are usually not good at choosing the slogan though. It might confuse customers (about the product, or service) when choosing an inspiring slogan. Great points overall

Dont be evil got popularized but it was one of many things in google manual, like on page 11, not central motto

Tim, Thank you very much for a practical and insightful lesson. I would be interested to understand better the differences you make between values, culture and behavior. You basically say culture is behavior, OK. but what about values ? Could you be more specific ? Do values represent the limits you should not go cross to achieve your vision ? It may be only semantics, but I also like to understand the difference between mission and vision. When you refer to vision, I sense you refer to mission (what you are here for), and vision is more quantitative about the market and where you stand vs the market in the expected time horizon (generally 3 to 5 years). Both could be instrumental to attracts talents, but in different, and complementary ways.If you could solve these two points, secondary to your main objectives, it would be great. Thank you again, Didier
