I saw Tim and his Starsailor band on 3 occasions at In the Alley, the small folk club in Escondido, California (about 40 miles north of San Diego) where the first 12 songs here were recorded. On at least one occasion, the opening act was a local singer, Tom Waits. The third time Bunk and Buzz Gardner were replaced by Emmett Chapman (playing his newly invented Stick) and Glenn Ferris on trombone. That was the furthest-out version of the band, really spacey and discordant music. And I believe all 3 times Tim played in Escondido were in 1971. These were great shows and nothing like I ever heard before (or since). The Escondido recordings were preserved by bassist John Balkin, who shared them with the old yahoo Starsailor discussion group. It's good to see that they've survived as a bootleg.

Fantastically rare . Track 12 . The Holy Healing Festival . Its a shame part 1 is murkier than the 2nd part . Its also unlikely that the band is the same for both shows. Insanely creative music , even for Tim . Thanks for sharing this lost treasure .

The date is wrong, this is more like 1970-71, the starsailor period.

Tim died June 29 1975 so the date here is wrong.

I don't think this would be a good starter album for the Buckley initiate.
